Well said. OnePlus is pulling an Apple move; get rid of accessories to get you to buy them separately so they have a higher profit margin. And I won't fall for it. I refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack.

here is what makes me ponder.... I am sure Samsung will make a phone with a in-screen finger print scanner, and keep the headphone jack, which will inevitably make this decision pointless #watchNsee

They're not even tit-for-tat features though. Like, if they took away the ability to charge your phone with a cable, but allowed you to charge wirelessly instead--that's an analogy. But taking away one thing to put a completely unrelated and unasked for thing? Nah. Put the fingerprint sensor on the back. Needing to shift a finger to the front of the phone while holding it makes it unstable in the hand (it's 1 less finger holding the phone). When the reader is on the back, it's still stable. Do these people even use phones?

I really wanted a 6t but these dumb excuses are just retarded. The company wants to just make higher profits on bluetooth headphones which theyll upsell. Basically, if i buy the 6t i have to spend another 40-50$ for the headphones as i use the 3.5mm jack everyday for 5-6 hours.

Regardless of whether the justification has any basis, the real issue is that this phone is missing a useful feature, the headphone jack, and the in-display fingerprint scanner will be less secure and slower than a conventional fingerprint scanner.

Their justifications are unfounded and absurd. There are other phones out there that have an In display fingerprint sensor along with a 3.5mm jack. The upcoming Mate 20/Pro will also have those two along with wireless charging and IP68 certification.
Also, most OnePlus users would choose a 3.5mm jack over a under-display fingerprint sensor anyway, so even if they were not capable of doing so (which they are), they could've went with the better choice.
Heck, they should've added wireless charging instead of that under-display fingerprint sensor. Would've been far more useful. The new type of fingerprint reader has no benefits over traditional sensors, aside from maybe appearing "cooler".
They keep raising the price on OnePlus phones every year, yet they claim they didn't add the water-resistance to keep costs down. It's another baseless justification.
OnePlus has lost cause. That's it.

Vivo Nex has an in display scanner and a jack AND a better STB ratio!!! It's their sister company (of sorts) ffs!
These brands can say anything to your faces via tv/computer/mobile screens, and they won't respond even if you question them. Too much for a company that still dares to call themself "customer-centric".
They are not only copying Apple in their devices, but also in their attitude.
It would have been better if he didn't provide any explanation at all.

He's lying through his teeth.
The only reason is that they want to cut the cost of designing and they already gave up on a headphone jack in the Oppo R17 which is basically the blueprint for the 6T.
They could have made the phone 2mm thicker and that would allow them to incorporate a bigger battery, a headphone jack and an in-display FPR.
