The Voice of Reason, 05 Oct 2018Qualcomm uses the most atrocious naming scheme in the indus... moreTrue, except SD710 is faster than SD670. 2 Cortex A75 is still ahead of 4 Cortex A73, but the gap isn't that much due to the 2 less high performance cores of SD710.

The Voice of Reason, 05 Oct 2018Qualcomm uses the most atrocious naming scheme in the indus... moreWell they are different generation. Snapdragon 670 is faster than the 801 because they are from different generations. 800 series is flagship like Intel i7, 600 series is Intel i5 and 400 series is the i3.

I can see Qualcomm will use that "1" as iteration?
Next year will be 8250, 8350 etc

Tge xx50 will be the version of 8 series, the higher the number, the better.

PapaRafe, 05 Oct 2018What's it in the name.... More importantly: is it 7nm? Yes. They are 7nm.

They better include prefix SOON.. else they will be like the Zombie naming series...

                Snapdragon 800, 801, 805, 810, 820, 835, 845 ... 8150? WTF?

Snapdragons 652/660/670/710 are faster than 800/801/805/810 but slower than 820/835/845.

Snapdragon 670 is faster than Snapdragon 710.

                Etc, etc, etc.

When looking at their names you can't tell the generation, the tech process - nothing.

Well, the 2018 phones have for the most part come and gone. What isn't here has leaked to such an extent that we know there's simply no compelling reason to buy a new phone if you have something fairly recent.

We've had notches on everything, disappearing headphone jacks, dull 'flagships' and equally dull Android updates. I get the impression the big ones (Samsung, Huawei) don't even care anymore. It's worse on tablets. My Tab S3 is still on its April update.

Bar a Note 9 if you get a screaming deal and happen to need a phone there's nothing. Maybe a Sony if you can get the 'free'headphone thingy. And Apple seems to have departed into the realm of utter ridiculesness.
The Pocophone at least has good specs and no delusions of grandeur.

Sooooooooo....on to 2019. See y'all next year. happy holidays !
