06 October 2018
Samsung's next Exynos 9820 chipset is said to feature a dedicated neural processing unit. The same goes for the Snapdragon 8150.

It's business. No one wants to be a sore loser, so before Samsung starts taking over in the US, Qualcomm must charge them enough as to how much they'd loose if they allow them to sell Exynos-powered devices in that region.

The US government is obliging SAMSUNG to have SD chipset in their flagship phones so that Snapdragon would gain more profit.

I have good experience with the Exynos series. Can't wait for the Note 10 with Exynos.

          1. Use a snapdragon chipset
          2. use ANY qualcomm piece in their chipset
          3. pay royalties to sell exynos based handsets to Qualcomm.

It's true that Exynos is better than SD on the CPU department, but when it comes to GPU, the Adreno 630 is a clear winner, so instead of adding this immature technology for marketing purposes, Samsung should be working on developing their own GPU.

If they don't use Qualcomm chips, then they can't sell their phones in the US, which is the only way they try to get iPhone users to switch to Android. Maybe they also have Qualcomm's modem agreement or something.

Whackcar, 06 Oct 2018I think what Samsung should do is get rid of Snapdragon alt... morewell, that's what their users kept asking them to do, to ditch SD and use Exynos since it beats SD in a lot of aspects and most of the time, I never liked Samsung except the Note Series, but their Exynos is better than SD, evidently, I just don't know why they're still using SD up til now

I think what Samsung should do is get rid of Snapdragon altogether and only put their Exynos chipsets on their phones. This will ensure that their flagships will stay ahead of other Snapdragon phones (since Exynos has been regularly beating Snapdragon since a few generations now). They could also market this as a feature, similarly to how Huawei does this with their Kirin chips.

Also, if they spend more money on their SoC department, then they might be able to compete with (or surpass) Apple's chips, in benchmarks.

Samsung and Qualcomm are 6 months behind Huawei and Apple. What a shame.
