06 October 2018
Samsung's next Exynos 9820 chipset is said to feature a dedicated neural processing unit. The same goes for the Snapdragon 8150.

HiSilicon's only got 2 months to brag about their A76, 7nm SoC. They even made a bold and unfounded statement that the K980 was faster than the A12. Which is BS. E9820's got M4 cores + A76, all on 7nm.

They have a clear explanation about the Kirin SOCS which throttles a lot faster and more frequently compared to Exynos and SD. Exynos proves to be more powerfull but takes more time to open the channels while snapdragon is at full throttle from the start and was technically more efficient.

I believe China has banned propertiary chipsets as they can't limit what's banned in china. I am not really sure on that one though so if anyone really knows why, please teach the real reason why. ^-^

perhaps maybe be work there heating issues. and thermal throttling. every SD or Exynos phone i have had. over heats big time. Play Real Racing 3 for 10 mins. use your phone as a hand warmer. Plus there all good on the benchmarks but real world applications its lag central. I will keep with Kirin CPU no heat issues or lag just fast and cool phones.

Samsung signed a contract with qualcomm so they can use snapdragon chipsets.
the agreement permitted that samsung may bypass qualcomm in certain segments and weaker in others. according to their contract. Qualcomm makes weaker chipsets BECAUSE of samsung. as they balance each other. and samsung has feeble GPUs because of qualcomm, and the reason is...? you guessed it. balancing out each other.
just so you know about the chipsets:
                                      First Galaxy S: (i9000)
                                      used the exynos 3110 ( 1xA8@1 GHz/PowerVR SGX540/0.5 GB of ram)
                                      Galaxy S plus (i9001)
used the Qualcomm S2 (1xScorpion@1.4 GHz/Adreno 205/0.5 GB of ram)
                                      the S2 (i9100)
used the 4210 (2xA9@1.2 GHz/Mali400mp4/1 GB of ram)
Interestingly enough the plus version used the broadcom SoC, so it doesn't count in this generation
One year LATER: the S3 came out (i9300)
the standard one used 4412 (4xA9@1.4 GHz/Mali400mp4/1 GB of ram)
SAME with the plus version (2 GB instead of 1) but the S3 neo used snapdragon 400.
                                      (4xA7@1.2 GHz/Adreno 305/1.5 GB of ram)
                                      Moving on another year:
                                      the S4! (i9500)
it used an octa core configuration called exynos 5410
                                      (4xA15@1.6+4xA7@1.2/PowerVR SGX544MP3/2 GB of ram)
the plus version used snapdragon 600
                                      (4xKrait300@1.9 GHz/Adreno320/2 GB of ram)
there was an LTE-A version called the i9506
                                      this one used the 800
                                      (4xKrait400@2.3 GHz/Adreno 330/2 GB of ram)
same has gone with the S5
                                      (E5422: 4xA15@1.9 GHz+4xA17@1.3 GHz/Mali-T628 MP6/2 GB of ram)
the snapdragon variant used the 801
                                      (4xKrait450@2.5 GHz/Adreno330/2 GB of ram)
there was a special edition with the snapdragon 805 too
the S6 was the ONLY one without a snapdragon version due to the fiasco of Snapdragon 810. and the 808 was underpowered.
                                      S7 used the E8890 and S820
                                      S8 used E8895 and S835
                                      And this year's S9 used E9810 and S845.

lacp, 06 Oct 2018Samsung also have factories and search and development cent... moreYeah they have this and that, but they all mean nothing if they don't pay Qualcomm for the royalty fee to sell Exynos-powered devices in the USA.
Either they have to use a Qualcomm chipset, use a Qualcomm hardware piece in their phones (not possible, since Exynos doesn't use Qualcomm's modems), or not sell in that region anymore (a big NO for Samsung).
The fee is very expensive, in a way that all profits that they would receive from selling Exynos-powered devices in the USA won't be enough to make up for the major loss in profit by paying the license from Qualcomm. Hence, they used Snapdragon SoCs for US variants instead, which isn't really half-bad, but is certainly affecting Samsung from taking over the region.

Who knows, one day they'd be an independent chipmaker that would easily slap Qualcomm in the face by not only paying the patent, but even purchasing the whole company itself, just like they did to JBL and Harman Kardon.
