Headphone jack check: Huawei Mate 20 will have it, Mate 20 Pro will not

So, in the pictures I see a case for a Mate 20 and a case for the Mate 20 Pro, the difference is that one has an opening for a fingerprint scanner in the back (20), the other does not have that (20 Pro); but both show a small circular opening on top, wouldn't that be the headphone jack on both models?

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2018Seriously, we need to keep repeating the same obvious facts... moreWhile I do get and support your point, I don't think people the people willing to pay almost $1000 for this phone will be worrying about that.
I've never used a USB to jack adapter so I have two questions, does the quality of the audio drop at all that way? and how resistant is one of these adapters? Because fif the quality of the audio doesn't drop and they are more resistant than the connector end on the headphones then I feel like its actually a better thing to use them this way (I'm sick of throwing headphones away because the jack's cable keeps breaking)

.alpha, 08 Oct 2018No one paying $600+ for a phone cannot afford a wireless he... moreSeriously, we need to keep repeating the same obvious facts? We DON'T want wireless phones. Charging them is a hasslle, quality is still significantly lower and they don't last (SoIt's not just about affording them once, but on a regular basis. I can't stand that and it doesn't matter whether i can afford to do it or not. It's an insult, an abomination, and i won't do it).
AND it's not just about headphones. Many people need the jack for their car stereos (Not all of us live on credit and drive the latest models) and even speakers.

Quite meaningless product line fragmentation, somebody who needs a 3.5mm jack will be forced to lose other capabilities.

Huawei continues to disappoint:
- remove bootloader unlocking
- remove 3.5mm headphone jack
Hope Kirin 980 is all it's hyped up to be. It'll then trickle down to cheaper Honor devices (with a headphone jack).

It seems as if no company can keep the 3.5mm headphone jack AND have an underscreen FPS. Does this mean the Galaxy S10 will remove the headphone jack?

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2018So again the "pro" version will be the lame/cripple version... moreA missing headphone jack doesn't equal a crippled device at all, I agree it means a different way of connecting your headphones , ie via a type c adapter but it's not really a big deal

So again the "pro" version will be the lame/cripple version and the real "pro" version will not be sold, pretty much, anywhere...
Well thanks, pass.

Whackcar, 08 Oct 2018I think this is still better than what happened with P20 se... moreNo one is expecting anything less, but as long as phones are thick enough for the jack it's a lot more consumer friendly to keep it. Hell will freeze over before I go back to the dongle stupidity of the early noughties.

I like how Huawei keeps the useful features in the Non-Pro models of Mate Series.

Am I the only one who can see that there are 2 holes in the 2nd image of Mate 20 Pro case? The smaller one is for IR Blaster while the bigger one is for Headphone Jack...

AnonD-706668, 08 Oct 2018Don't worry no need headphone jack...we need a large sensor... moreMy p20 pro had horrible inconsistent noise reduction in uniform areas of shadow / shade and raw processing took too long for my liking, great all-round phone but not perfect.
And just adding or increasing megapixel count doesn't necessarily mean a better image or better camera

As far as the design is concerned. I quite like it, especially of the Mate 20 Pro. The lack of that hardware fingerprint sensor makes for a clean, smooth surface & that unobtrusive camera setup further compliments it's simplicity. The gradient-based glass color options would make for a very attractive looking phone.
