Domestoboto, 10 Oct 2018Have they fixed the lack of DRM support resulting in 540P-o... morethis problem can't be fixed via software update.
DRM security encryption is hardware backed, so complete motherboard have to be replaced to fix that.

Most chinese companies use low cost motherboards that include lower security of DRM as well.
Even Oneplus was in category earlier but when criticized they asked users to come to their service centers and replaced the hardware to fix the issue.
I don't expect Xiaomi to go this level, since all they care is making money from the factors that people can't see and show people they are not making profit on specs.
Xiaomi knows what specsheet people see before buying a phone and offers highest spec to price ratio but cut costs on evey other major factor involved.

If it were software related, they'd have to push an update and it would be fixed.
Instead they ask their customers to take their phone to one of their service centers.

I'd say that's pretty self explanatory.

It's not only for them, brands like OPPO and VIVO also target at these masses. Not by performance by price, but other aspects, like the gimmicks of "Selfie Expert". I'm not trying to discriminate the Chinese (Though I'm Chinese), but too bad these brands are Chinese, so it'll look like I'm discriminating my own race, oh well...

That's like offering a long, unlimited mileage warranty on the car and six months on the engine. Is even better Poco and Mi 8 and Blackshark on this 6 month battery warranty? If it's true, people should stop cribbing about light leak issues and harangue OEMs who offer 6 month battery warranties.

The light bleed, at the edges, is very obvious when the phone is in shutdown options (after holding the power button for 2secs.) that has gray screen and in a pitch black environment, otherwise it is not obvious enough when the phone is being operated normally and the user is not purposely searching for the light bleed in an evenly colored screen. For me this is not a deal breaker as Poco also needs to cut corners to reach the price point. The light bleed does not hinder anything that makes the phone inoperable.

Have they fixed the lack of DRM support resulting in 540P-only Netflix even if you're paying for the top tier subscription?

A lot of people on here are burning Xiaomi for producing a phone with a screenbleed issue on .3% of their device. again, only .3% are affected even if it reaches .4% .5% that is still acceptable numbers.
I own one that does not have a screen bleed issue and my partner also has one that has no issue. I came from owning a flaghship device (S7 edge) and a midrange (g5s plus) and this phone outperforms both devices in terms of speed. now s7 edge might have a better screen but you really can't tell the difference.
And for a phone that performs like a flagship at a midrange price, xiaomi just changed the game.
There's a reason why these phone are almost always sold out and you really can't expect the company to have zero percent failure.

stop buying this cheap phone. They are just fooling the poor indians thinking they have a premium device for a cheap price. this device has a very bad touch response and touch sensors. Its camera cant even properly capture moving objects (ie. slow shutter speed). The build-quality is bad overall. but hey, you get a SD-845 right? that's how they are fooling the indian market.
