Seriously? Some of you see this as a gimmick, did you say the same on the first touch devices? Or thought the mobile phone never would win over the phone booth?

Of course with these first ones where the curvature is not narrow (to put it kindly) it is not that useful. But when they got that fixed tablets could be completely gone as a device type, as we could have a phone/phablet sized device that unfolds to tablet size...

And folded it could be down to the most basic functions needed like calls, or reading a quick message, and giving a quick (voice) response.

And there is no need to limit it to one fold, could be three parts e.g. "Z" shaped with a third visible folded. Or folded over to protect the display somewhat like an "e".

And look at how your wallet gets deformed in the pocket, imagine that your device could flex some too... There is a HUGE future in all this (unless someone beats it to it with a better interacting with a device than our eyes and fingers).

It does not take much to sell to the hipster crowd these judging by what is popular these days.

        Slap a fruit logo.
        Thank me later.

matt99, 10 Oct 2018A pointless device. The batteries wont fold neither will the copper traces on the circuit board even if the board itself will with a complete change in chemistry.

You know color screens were called gimmicks. built in camera was called a gimmick. Touchscreen was called gimmick. Around 2007-8 a lot of people said that they'll never abandon physical keyboards... now look at them. The first phone in the 1800s was called a gimmick.. Foldables as the next revolution, and you will buy one sooner or later guaranteed.

At present, I dont really see a practical use for a "foldable" phone except for it being a gimmick and someone could brag about. Realistically speaking, flat/slab phones are more useful for what they are meant to do, besides "foldable" phones seems to have more fragile parts due to the fact that it needs to be bendable to fold itself.

Anyway, we will see how this kind of technology evolves and if it can actually replace the current generation of flat/slab phones.
