The P20 Pro was amazing itself, and the Mate 20 Pro has only improved upon it. The phone has all the bells and whistles that you can ask for. It has the highest specs in the Android world. It has the best multi-camera setup in any smartphone. It has a unique back panel design that will help distinguish this phone from others. It's arguably the best smartphone of the year.
The NM cards are questionable indeed, but whether they'll be failures or successful remains to be seen. Let's not jump to conclusions just yet.
Also, i think the Mate 20 X is a very interesting phone. It's limited distribution market is the only problem, otherwise i see it as being more successful than the regular Mate 20.

For years now, every reviewer is stuck on the headphone jack. You guys need to realize that the headphone jack was an issue back when batteries were between 2500 and 3000 man, because you could not charge and listen at the same time. Maybe it is still an issue with apple but with a 4200mAh battery like the mate 20 Pro....the lack of the headphone jack is not an issue you will never have to charge this phone during the day....at least 99% of users with;l not...wake up guys....stop repeating the same record every time...use those brains of yours

Both Mate 20 & Mate 20 pro are great upgrade phone from their previously one. Well the only issue here is their pricing of course, which obviously makes Galaxy Note 9 a better choice.
Luckily here in my country, vanilla Mate 20 is $673, Pro version $865, and Mate 20X $770 (free M-Pen). - https://www.soyacincau.com/2018/10/17/huawei-mate-20-pro-x-watch-gt-price-malaysia/
Galaxy Note 9 in my country are still at $950. So if i live in other overpriced Mates country, i'll be better off buying other brands, but not in mine. Huawei is a better choice for the price.
Now about the camera, here are full walkthrough review of it - https://youtu.be/wHhY7MVOe2Y
Firstly, the Master AI 2.0 is working good, without overprocessed or oversaturate image anymore (checkout the Night Mode at 22:30, the results is jaw-dropping). Some said that Mate 20 series dont have OIS while P20 pro has it in their main 40mp camera. Well both phones doesnt have OIS, period. They only applied it in their telephoto lens for stabilizing the zoomed pictures. P20 pro 4k video recording unstabilized like hell, proved the non OIS. The good thing is in Mate 20, they improved the EIS in their 4k recording, yeayy!!!
As for me, i'll buy the $673 vanilla Mate 20, which the most price-per-performance ratio phones as of now. Peace.

MadMel, 21 Oct 2018in another words your problem with Huawei is that they don'... moreWas thinking the same.
For me they do a really good job here and i don't give a sh.t about notch or not, better have a tiny notch then more bezel in my opinion, maybe we can remove it in settings like some other phones/brands and on the Honor 8X Max to.
For me they could remove the 3,5mm jack to, better now then later.
And for the stylus hmmm i had 3 different Sammy notes in the past, i never used the stylus, but if i needed it now with M20X, then im lucky because i always use some nice leather flip cases to protect my dear phone and im sure it can fit perfect in some of them to. Buy paying for it... Huawei pssttt, bad move.
And for the NM card, why not... nice to try somthing new here to, we had the same discussion in the past around different sim card sizes.
Well done here Huawei....
And all this coycat this and that arrr, are u folks never get tired of all this yak yak yak.
Phones today are really good in specs, for me they are.
So if they stop the inovation with speed etc. i would still be satisfied with this we have today, nearly no matter what kind of phone/brand i have. Just not like Apple, been there, done that.... But even a Apple could do it.

Absolutely! In my place these Mate 20 Pro likely to be priced above Note 9 128 GB and 512 GB! That's more than enough to lose interest for the consumers, on top of that OP6T going be priced exactly half the price of Mate 20 Pro! LOL good luck with Huawei... They need to kick start Honor business again

MadMel, 21 Oct 2018just give up...SD845 is old news.Old doesn't always mean bad.
How ironic, the SD845 still has slightly better GPU than a newcomer.
The efficiency of 7nm process is negated by more power hungry Cortex A76 cores, which leads to the verdict that the Kirin 980 beats the SD845 in CPU power ONLY.
How about the fact that SD8150 is just around the corner, with proper 5G capabilities, an even better GPU than the already-better-than-Kirin-980's Adreno 630 graphics, and about on par (and may even be better) CPU, also based on 7nm??
Huawei did a nice try, but they simply aren't that enough to match Qualcomm, let alone beat them.
For now, Kirin 980 is the better chipset, but around this time, people have bought their Note 9 or other SD845 devices already, and those that are looking to upgrade will obviously just wait for a few more months instead for a proper 2019 flagship device with better 2019 flagship SoC.

Great Article and Great innovation from Huawei. Shots Fired.
M-Pen seems pretty good. Thank goodness it is not a LG-type simple, passive stylus. However, I wonder whether it is a WACOM pen like the S-Pen. Also, not having it in a slot, despite being much bigger than the Note9 and having to buy it separately, is a huge drawback, and that already makes it no match to the already more versatile S-Pen.
The Kirin 980 while very powerful is a joke, compared to what Huawei was teasing and boasting. Forget the Apple A12. Forget even the Apple A11. Forget the SD 8150 or the Exynos 9820, about to be released soon. It is only slight ahead of the SD 845 and can barely compare against the Note9 in some benchmarks. This was such false marketing from Huawei. "Faster than A12 Bionic", they said.
The Huge OLED screen of the Mate 20 X is awesome. But Huawei really missed a golden chance to make a perfect rectangular screen by including a small but still intrusive notch that disrupts the full-screen effect. Plus, 1080p+ resolution on a 7.2" display means 345 ppi, a far cry from the pin sharp 518 ppi from the Note9's 3K display.
Unfortunately, the big ugly notch remains on the Mate 20 Pro. And it isn't worth it too (See below). Tip: Makers, please stop blindly following Apple.
https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_20_pros_face_unlocking_gets_fooled_quite_easily-news-33827.php
The Triple Camera of the Mate 20 Pro looks awesome. Even better than the Pixel 3. It could easily be the best smartphone camera of the year. But, did they remove OIS from the main 40 MP camera in the Mate 20 Pro? That would be a downgrade, because the P20 Pro had OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) in it's main 40 MP camera.
The lack of a 3.5 mm headphone jack in the Mate 20 Pro is a huge drawback though. It's presence in the vanilla Mate 20 and the Mate 20X, might make people lean towards it.
Another thing could have been improved are the stock icons on EMUI. They look like dated icons from a Chinese UI released in 2011. Why can't they update it to something more modern and sleek?
Finally, Samsung designed hybrid slot that can take both UFS cards in the shape of a microSD card slot. https://www.gsmarena.com/samsungs_designed_a_slot_that_can_take_both_ufs_and_microsd_cards-news-19333.php
The NM card is just more planned obsolescence from Huawei. They could have made it in similar dimensions to the microSD card, but no, they had to force their decisions on the customer. Disgusting tactic.
So the Galaxy Note9 currently retails for around €800, which is the price of the vanilla Mate 20. It is pretty obvious that the Note9 is the better all-round phone. If they had removed the notch on the excellent Mate 20X and put in a microSD card slot, it would have been nearly perfect.

I hate notch. It is ridiculous to me..
Mate 10 and 10 Pro have much better design, best of Huawei so far in my opinion.
SAMSUNG should have made Note 8 just like Mate 10 but with curved screen.. Front FPS as home could be kept.
Just one S version, 5.5" like Nokia 8 Sirocco, this one has size of S7 with more screen.
