Huawei Mate 20 Pro's face unlocking gets fooled quite easily

19 October 2018
Two guys with similarly short hair and beards, who aren't twins or even related, could both unlock the same phone with their faces.

ahahah, if the Mate 20 do this with european citizens...imagine with asian like chinese ones, they all look the same so...the results will be even less than 1 in 1 million, like 10000 in a million. ahhaahahah

This will probably get fixed via software update. Still, it shouldn't have passed through Huawei's quality testing in that state. Perhaps they'll be more careful since now.

Personally though, i very much prefer a fingerprint sensor. It is far more convenient & faster. Luckily the Mate 20 Pro has both, so it should be safe even in the current state, all you need to do is register your fingerprints, and you'll be fine until Huawei sorts out this face unlocking flaw.

Its funny when it happened with iphoneX on China,
Now Huawei on Germany phones are racist

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2018Iphones had the same kinda issues when first release, just ... moreIIRC that was with a mother and her son. This case is quite different.

Technologies evolve and become accurate with time. This should get sorted soon but callous on Huawei's part. Let's see the official statement.

Apple’s Face ID won’t be easy to copy. Android venders should really be investing in their own technology, rather than copying and waiting for Apple to do the heavy lifting.

Well we are not far from the time when we all have chips under our skin that will then secure your phone and other media devices. We all want that chip cause these face unlocks dont work and are not safe. Same with the fingerprint scanner that is not really safe.

I still use only dots on screen to open up my phone cause i am not so paranoid about the security of my phone. Btw i already live in a country where we all are chipped with ID cards. Makes life easier a lot tbh, but i lose my privacy with it and other things that use NFC. Bus card is with NFC and bank card is with it and some client cards for shops and so on. I actually have face unlock on my phone but for that i need to change region to India so it will work.

Just a little glitch/bug... will be sorted by Huawei

I think to, they can correct this with a tiny fix, BUT... cmon Huawei, this is not good enough... this can be better, the phone is released couple days ago. This is really foolish.

I guess this is some kind of glitch.
Huawei must fix this in no time.
