If you were a developer and owner of an open source software. Will you be okay developing the software further, without any stable source of revenue from it. No one will. And about selling data, it's not a stable revenue source for development of such a big OS which does not cost any royalty for its use and is basically open source. So, they need to find other sources of revenue to keep Android afloat.

          I would prefer a device with ONLY the Play Store (and Maps in an emergency). With Google (and Facebook), I am 100% certain that I like the entire planet, is being spied upon. I think everyone should use secure Apps, Browsers and mails too.

                    Personally i hope all OEMs open the bootloaders and keep the warranties with it. Best android experiance i've had so far is on custom roms (AOSEXP to be exact, but i've tried los and cm versions from 9 and up) and it was always better than the google experiance. Heck even lagwiz (on 4.0.4) was more responsive than what google provides with the one program (hint it's an sd660). And to those saying that they shouldn't keep warranties with open bootloaders i can only reply with "If you do something stupid (like over-volt/clock beyond safe margins) it's your responsibility. Why should i not get the best that a hardware can provide to be just because an OEM decided so? Is the device mine or the OEMs. Granted it's provided by the OEM to me, but does that mean i have to use only what it thinks is best for me? No. Look at the world around you - there are plants, meats and other resources that the maker has given us but we have no abilities on using them properly, so why should an OEM be an ass and limit the game rules synthetically?"

                      Google is a Company, not a charitable foundation. What do you expect people? Android development and maintenance needs money too. Since your country reject Google old businesses practices because you deemed it unfair, Google new approach seems fair to me. They will generate less revenue from this also

Google is the dominant player and EU (sort of rightfully) accused them on pushing and incentivizing OEMs to install their own programs with their products. Firstly, Apple sells their own products and does not incentivize anyone. Secondly, you cant accuse Apple of antitrust violations if their market is so tiny in Europe.

                        I know at first glance it seems like the EU's behavior is unfair here, but it actually isnt and protects us from corporations abusing their dominant positions. Its just that a company we like got hit by that, but imho they did break the rules. Its just that their solution seems annoying.

                                I'm sure Samsung has something to do with this. They have an extra alternative app for each Google app, even the play store.

                                      Why is nobody up in court around the fact that Apple has the App Store I mean is not as if you have a choice you choose and iPhone its the App Store or nothing. You can side load another App Store on Android
