Google play store is a part of the bargain and will become a part of the paid package. But Google will lose miserably, people won't want to publish their apps on play store & will strip down Googles analytics API from them which will bring a hit to core Google business of snooping in user privacy & selling bullshits. New app store's will emerge but all together it will be a worser experience for end users and more fragmentation. In the end can Google afford it self to lose Europe? They aren't present in China and India will follow rejecting it.

Are Google stupid, do they not make money when apps... are sold in their Play Store, but if they force OEMs to pay for pre-loading Play Store then Google will lose a lot of money when users chose other Android stores?

European Union is one, 1, single market so Google... are not allowed to have different rates in different parts within EU!

My point to this is that Google is using the OS as a form of advertising for the suits. Android which is the OS is offered by Google for free to everybody if they just pre-install the Google suits... Isnt that some form of payments form the OEM's for the OS?. Whats the difference if an OEM allows another service to be pre-loaded for a fee? Why aren't those developers being penalized under the same act?

You know, Google Playstore isn't the only app store available. OEMs could easily switch to Amazon Appstore which is pretty good. It's app library is smaller, but that will change once it starts coming pre-installed on phones & receives proper maintenance from it's owner.

all they need is the play store, gmail would be nice, though people can download anything with g play. and to hit google hard download a browser with an ad block installed and make anything but google the default search. most people don't change default apps. I know many who use the ugly samsung mail and browser. I don't use chrome, but I use the gmail app for my gmail and outlook for microsoft accounts. though I bet they could all just reload outlook and people could use it for their gmail account. it's googles loss. unless it's 40 flat for the play store and any other googel app, I bet that would stir another complaint wit the EU

To all OEMs, just install Google play services. Then advice customers to get the Play Store from apkmirror. Problem solved

If there's a problem around competition it's because of lack of app development in rival platforms. Most Windows and blackberry users have jumped ship so what small incentive there was has disappeared. I really don't see what preinstalled content, be it Googles own or the OEMs, has to do with it

Kiyasuriin, 20 Oct 2018I simply ignore them. Or remove the GApps that I don't need... moreI understand. But the majority of the consumers don't know that stuff. Besides Google owns the OS so wont they have the right to atleast pre-upload the GApps?.
Android is free but with the caveat of pre-installing GApps that's it.
