I just love curved glass, I hope they don't get rid of it. And I also hope they don't remove headphone jack, back when iphone7 was launched I didn't buy it because of headphone jack removal and now this year I didn't buy Xperia because of the same reason. Apparently, buying s9 turned out to be a very good idea.

Surely curved glass looks better but its more vulnerable and surely not more practical. If you wanna get just feeling of a water drop, it's fine. Not everyone prefers practicalities.

Then there will be 4 series of S10 then, S10, S10 plus, S10 flat and S10 fold? Or they are ditching the Plus series?

AJ_74, 26 Oct 2018You're one of those people that sees value in something sim... morecurved edges allow a more natural glass surface at better angle for fingers to get on or off the screen at side edges. try and use it for a few days most people should like it or even love it.
on appearance, the whole device looks more rounded, more futuristic, more like a water drop. less odd lines or shapes. on scrolling the screen from the right or to the left, it gives a 3d feeling that something is moving up from edge, moving down to edge. just a very very minimal effect that make the device looks more stylish, any content shown screen are more stylish. on showing general content especially the text, as long as the text are not at the 2mm area at edge, no any inconvenience on reading are felt.
the reason for notch is undetstandable, to make more area on the surface showing screen content, less waste of space. ss should follow suit some time in future.

lyndino, 27 Oct 2018I can assure you that I don't see value in something that i... moresamsung is currently the best maker making the best Android phone. its S model reflect the latest phone and Android development over the past 12 months. i watch and get this model each year.
the google pixel, its software is no doubt the latest. but its hardware is not. s is more human, more of a fashion, something looks better on hands. and its number of users are much more than that of pixel. pixel is more oriented for tech persons

did not tell the size of the flat screen version. i would always get the smallest size one. which is always the best looking one, and is the best one for carrying out and efficient use
phone width 7cm will be ok. i bet the width will be 7cm, 1mm increase from the s9.
the current iphone x is at 7.1cm, ss will follow this new standard at last, probably on the s11
s itself ia not an entry level model. newest tech and highest quality are on this model. better describe the most basic one, lowest price one as the basic version

Good to hear that there will be a side mounted fps and a flat amoled screen
I just wished that , that will be implemented not only on the entry level S10 device but for all upcoming phones either flagship or high mid ranged one.

AJ_74, 26 Oct 2018You're one of those people that sees value in something sim... moreI can assure you that I don't see value in something that is popular. I was the first to pre-order out of everybody that I know.
And to clarify, I love all my Samsung devices as they have been flawless for my family, from 2 years up to the current 12 year old on an S7. But that's not to say that I haven't been watching other brands. A co-worker was rocking some sort of motorola and I asked to look at it, immediately decided I didn't want that phone (at the time I had a Note 4). My niece had a Huawei m10 (or something like that), she had it for 3 weeks and it was slow and laggy and the screen was nowhere what my Note 4 was. So I keep my eyes open and sony is about to release the XZ Premium, sounds promising (and I also like Sony phones) but when I first seen the monstrous bezels I quickly dismissed that phone. Also looked at a Pixel phone (can't remember if Pixel or Pixel 2) but decided against the non expendable memory. Then I seen the first add for the S8 with the INFINITY DISPLAY and OH MY GOSH!!! Love at first sight.
Also, some relatives have had LG phones (because they are free through work and hate them) and an uncle of mine has a Huawei. Not sure when he got it but it was after my S8 and it is nowhere comparable to my S8.
So these experiences have brought me to like my Galaxy because it works for me, has never dropped a call and has only had 1 issue of being non responsive due to me leaving it in the sun in my car on a very hot day (phone was literally too-hot-too-handle).

Hope the flat screen, side FPS, entry level S10 is also compact -- less than 68mm width and 138mm height -- and does not have a glass back.

lyndino, 26 Oct 2018Maybe I'm not seeing the distortion that your referring to ... moreYou're one of those people that sees value in something simply because it's popular. I get it. But the reality is that edge displays have no objective value vs. flat. Along with notches and wide/narrow aspect ratios, edge displays are another case of marketing gimmickry picked up and ran with by the dumb masses, because Apple/Samsung people will buy whatever Apple/Samsung tell them to, and the other companies are simply copycats.

sixtymes, 26 Oct 2018who "hates" it? I don't know anyone who doesn't like it. I'... moreThe lack of a flat-screened flagship option vetoed GS8/GS9 series when I was looking to replace my GS7. I tried a GS7e for a while and hated the glare, distortion, and difficulty touching and not touching the edge when intended.
LOL at the irony of the Samsung users implying 'you're holding it wrong'

Samsung could make perfect phone tho.
Good cameras.
IP68
Large battery.
Flat screen option (for people like me)
And if only they remove Bixby aswell or make button remappable...
It would make me consider switching back to Android.

I see what your saying about the corners being rounded but judging by the curves I would estimate the 'screen loss' is way less than most notches (maybe not the water drop notch).
Definitely less loss than the Pixel 3XL, Mate 20's and Iphone's.
