We just hope that the latest craze with foldable smartphones doesn't end up to be a gimmick, like the notches.

Am I the only one here who thinks this idea is stupid?

I have only one but very simple question.
Who from Audience from real users and people would like or need a foldable phone???
Its another research which eats tons of money just to tell manufacturing company we dont need that???

I fail to see any market for this stupid idea. More water resistant yes. A flip phone that flips on the screen is going to be a returns disaster.

You can expect to see foldable phones from all major brands. Samsung, Huawei & LG have confirmed working on the tech, and others are likely considering (or secretly developing) it too.

The biggest problem with the tech initially IMO would be display quality & durability. I think it's going to be significantly poorer than traditional panels, which would turn off most buyers. The tech will take a few years to evolve to perfection, at which point the tech would become mainstream & gain acceptance by all OEMs.

I think we have a long way to go, so i wouldn't hold my breath for first-gen foldable phones, as they likely will not please the most demanding of us. They will however be better than any concept foldable phones out yet (such as the FlexPai).
