These are fine products, fast and long software support, still using an iPhone 6 as secondary phone. However, the phones are overpriced to me, and therefore I am not willing to buy another product from Apple, unless they sell the iPhone XR for a price it's worth: like 500 euro, not 859. It is missing so many basic features that it simply can't justify its price. Same with the X, XS and XS Max.
Anyone can choose to pay what they want for a phone, I also paid 1000 euro for a phone once, the Galaxy Note8, so I won't criticise anyone who is willing to pay that much for a phone. As long as it's worth it for you. The Note8 was the only phone that might be worth that price for me last year because it has the most features on a phone available.

Regarding foldable phones and 5g, that affects everyone not just iphone users and don't think people will jump on foldable phones straightaway. It will take time especially costs will come down with more manufacturers joining the foldable scene. There will be plenty who won't want foldable phones too

But looking at XS, XS Max, XR from the value point of view comparing the available options and iPhones issues (LTE, WiFi issues, charging issues, no fast charger attached, no Screen Protector or case coming with it for free, Dual SIM catastrophe where no provider is accepting eSIM) I do not see any point in going after iPhones, especially when 5G mobiles and other fancy form factors like foldable ones on the cards....at that COST (in India itis $2200 for 512 GB plus, plus,plus)

Lots of people skipped u... moreI think that boils down to releasing the 8 alongside the X.
The idea was obvious to those with eyes. They wanted to raise the amount people were spending. So they launched the 8 against the X which was completely new design and fanciful.
When presented with the option of upgrading to the 8 that looks the same as your previous phone, or upgrading to the X why would you ever pick the X.
Price.
And if you don't want to pick the X because of price it'll make you think twice about if upgrading to the 8 is worth it.
X was the most popular iPhone, so we know the 8 wasn't a popular choice.
We also know Apple lost huge market share during this period. Like a bucket load. But the biggest grower was Huawei. And Huawei is basically non-existent in the US.
So the strategy worked for Apple in their home market, but in the more price-led markets they took a fist.
Hence they've priced the Xr to be very 'competitive' to make people think twice about switching from Apple to a similarly priced Huawei.

User experience is great. And iOS is great, but to pay that much for iOS itself? Hardware wise it is really bad offer. So, to someone who doesn’t plan to use all: Mac, iPhone and/or Apple TV - all this does not mean a lot. Not to mention how much revenue Apple also generates on accessories, such as dongles they sell.
Now, when you consider competition...

No doubt about it .and it does MOST OF THE JOB. however. some applications that I NEED for my projects exist ONLY on iOS. so for these projects. I find the XS really useful. and with stupidly low latency. which is exactly what I need.

I agree apple is making good phones but they are charging more than they actually should. Even industrial analysts agree that apple is overpricing their phones. Apple is encouraged by people like you so that they can overprice them as much as they want so that they can increase their profit margins.

They can, they have iOS. And Yes Apple devices definately justify their cost, if you disagree you clearly don't understand how many products these combines in very high level.

This is honestly what I expected.
Lots of people skipped upgrading last year because of the price.
And iOS users never cared too much about the price.
Lots of wealthy Android users now want to try out that expensive new phone. And some will buy it as a status symbol.
Apple is currently doing amazingly good. But question is if they can keep it up long term with such pricing. Since in all honesty they do not justify the cost.
