This is exiting, finally after years of teasing us we can see a final design/product. Wether foldable displays will take off remains to be seen. I don't think it will be a mainstream feature for Samsung flagships due to a price, most likely a 3rd flagship line to join their S and Note lines.

Pointless design. You can fold it, with huge radius at the fold. What's the point? If you stick that in your pocket and press it, it'll snap at the folding point. So, other than being a gimmick, absolutely no functionality or value. Point of old folding phones was protection of screen because it was folded inwards, with folding point having zero gap.

H-1, 02 Nov 2018anyone besides me thinks that a phone shouldn't be thicker ... moreAs long as the phone is small, I'm okay with the thickness being massive (take for example the Sony Ericsson K700). I wouldn't be if the screen size was any larger than 4".

Honestly, still waiting for the Galaxy A8s. And for all the bashing on this not yet to be seen Galaxy F, go direct all that comments to the ugly Flexpai phone. That monster deserve it more.

              Galaxy F for respect

The price is not a concern. Plenty of people for whom USD 2000 is like buying a toothpick, in terms of money. The key requirement is to make it desirable. In fact, I have felt that Apple should do a titanium + sapphire version of its phones, and price it as USD 2500 or more. Would generate great profit margins.

anyone besides me thinks that a phone shouldn't be thicker than a wallet?

They announced it before end of this year, now suddenly early next year...
And if it will be priced over 2000 then that is another news, meaning that prices of regular smartphones might not drop at all.

I just reflect on how people react to new tech, and the absurd skepticism I witness. Another example are driverless cars, lots of people say "oh they are gonna kill us and cause mayhem" forgettimg that 1.3 million people are killed every year in traffic. Both driverless cars and flexible displays will be commonplace in 3 years guaranteed.
