Display is made by SAMSUNG blame goes to Huawei, yes I doubt highly on how the quality check works in every OEM factory. It should be 100% not even 99% for flagship models. They say each component are tested but in reality we see this news. If you as a company asking consumer to pay $1000 plus then you create a responsibility within yourself that you will deliver a flawless product. Why no one sends them to court for refunding ? Why let go

Shanti Dope, 04 Nov 2018That's why I've said "maybe," because I'm just assuming som... morewell, that's what im thinking as well, like a strategy for LG to overtake and destroy other brands, psh, spoopid moves

Peenoise, 04 Nov 2018so you mean to say Huawei is trying to attack Apple, Samsun... moreThat's why I've said "maybe," because I'm just assuming something. That's for you to take it seriously when I'm telling it as a joke.
Besides, anything can happen in the business.

geewaiho, 04 Nov 2018Most likely it's a hardware issue. Last year's Lgv30 and pi... moreIt's indeed hardware, however, those were last year.
Talking about this year's, the Pixel 3 XL and V40 ThinQ suffer lesser known issues with their displays (the color shift issue on the Pixel 3 XL was mostly the nature of the OLED screen and isn't exactly a major one).
Even the Nokia 8 Sirocco earlier this year has faced no problems with its panel, and that's also a LG-made one.
It depends on how manufacturers would utilize the hardware they have, and Huawei has failed this time.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2018Oh you never know. When comes to businesses, LG will check ... moreYes they may have screwed up before with their own devices, but we're talking about today, at which they're doing great already.
Their V40 ThinQ is free from any issues that they've had with the V30 last year.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is also free from any problems about the display.

Obviously they would keep the better ones for their own, but doesn't necessarily mean that they would give low quality ones on their customers. Of course they can be heavily fined if they do that, and they wouldn't want that to happen, and besides, there's no reason to do it. OLED is still expensive, and a slightly lower quality one wouldn't mean extra profit for them, enough to feed their starving mobile division.
They didn't start off well when they've used OLEDs on their smartphones again since last year, but they seemed to have learned their lesson this time with good quality panels on their own devices, and it's basically the other manufacturers who are screwing up with the panels that LG sold them.

Shanti Dope, 04 Nov 2018Doesn't mean it's their fault immediately It's the same cu... moreso you mean to say Huawei is trying to attack Apple, Samsung then now LG? weeeeew that aint good tho

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2018he said LG and Huawei are both at fault here, Nokia uses LG... more"Nokia uses LG panels and yes they have no issues with it, coz it is NOKIA, they have learned from the past to make sure things are fine before throwing it out in the wild"

So you're trying to imply here that:
1 - Only Nokia can make LG's curved OLED panels flawless?
2 - They only cared about the quality of their products when they've been delivering excellent quality and durable devices a very long time ago and up until now? Nokia 3310 is a legendary proof of that.
3 - Huawei would only care about the quality of their devices when they're not doing very well in the game, when they're supposed to be ensuring the durability of their products regardless of their current state in the game?

"Sony on the otherhand has JDI panels, not LGs, if you're looking for proof, check it in a Sony phone sample, YouTube reviewers or even Google"

I wish to believe they're JDI-made, but there's no official confirmation about it, and close-up shots of the XZ3's screen would reveal a somewhat Diamond PenTile arrangement, which indicates that it's LG-made (JDI would only make RGB OLEDs).
And it would be believable to be LG, since their Bravia division has some sort of relationship with them for supplying OLED panels on their Bravia OLED TV, and the XZ2 Premium's 4K HDR panel is similar to the G7 ThinQ's, which means it can also do the 1000 nits brightness boost.

ryballs, 04 Nov 2018It only happens with LG panels so yeah I blame LG.. Doesn't mean it's their fault immediately
It's the same curved OLED display found on the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which is flawless on its own, so Huawei must've done something wrong with those panels
Maybe an attempt to destroy LG's reputation?? Idk, but there's definitely something wrong on Huawei's part, not LG's.

Shanti Dope, 03 Nov 2018Why put the blame on LG?? They just gave Huawei some very ... moreIt only happens with LG panels so yeah I blame LG..

Shanti Dope, 03 Nov 2018Again and again, it's NOT LG's fault that Huawei didn't car... morehe said LG and Huawei are both at fault here, Nokia uses LG panels and yes they have no issues with it, coz it is NOKIA, they have learned from the past to make sure things are fine before throwing it out in the wild, Sony on the otherhand has JDI panels, not LGs, if you're looking for proof, check it in a Sony phone sample, YouTube reviewers or even Google

Huawei is mostly at fault here for not making sure the hardware fits the panels perfectly, LGs only fault might be that they have not checked their panels for compatibility of other hardwares, "might be"

When comes to businesses, LG will check and keep the better ones for all we know. I will not defend LG just for the sake of defending. Looking at how LG screws up the screen panels for more than one phone makers, either LG sucks with their screen QA or they did it on purposes.

Be it whether it was iPhone, Samsung, Huawei, just to name a few. They all have similar excuses. But most importantly, so long they are seriously looking into and fix the problem.

Realistic1, 03 Nov 2018Read the comments. They refused so many people...Since you're the know-all around here, I guess Huawei Finland who's announced they'd replace faulty units are lying. And probably every branch that will follow will by lying as well?

You're right, don't waste time on me.. and BTW, sarcasm isn't always evident when there's no voice, and not all countries have an apple store so I wouldn't know.

Why put the blame on LG??
They just gave Huawei some very solid panels, and if those are indeed LG's fault, then LG's own phones must also have the same problem.
Better yet, the same P-OLED display of the Nokia 8 Sirocco must exhibit a similar issue. There's none.

I will go on and continue to defend LG, because they aren't the problem here. They kept on getting the blame for Huawei's responsibility of ensuring that the product itself is perfectly fine.

Shui8, 03 Nov 2018P9 Plus (Super Amoled), Mate 9 Pro (curve edges), Mate 10 p... moreAgain and again, it's NOT LG's fault that Huawei didn't care about the quality of the display.
If Nokia and Sony could use LG's OLED panels just fine, Huawei must also be doing the same thing.
How ironic, that before they were this popular, they actually do care about the quality of their devices, hence the top notch build quality of their older devices, but as soon as they went this far, they seemed to have cared less about it, which explains this problems.
If they can do perfect curved edges in the past, how come they can't do it right this time??

Nokia 8 Sirocco's LG-made OLED panel is still free from issues like this
Even LG's very own V40 ThinQ isn't facing any problems at all
And if it's true that Apple is indeed using LG OLED panels for some of their iPhone Xs models, then it means that those panels are very high quality since there's no iPhone that's facing display issues regarding LG panels yet

Huawei just failed to assess the quality of their device, but to put the blame on LG for selling a very good display is as stupid as spending $1000 for a smartphone

[deleted post]Good luck buying any phone. You are clearly not knowing what you are talking about.
