Analyst lowers prediction of iPhone XR shipments by as much as 30%

The price/features mix is partly to blame alongside alluring alternatives like the Huawei Mate 20 phones.

Yes, at this price point or less than this this you can get Mate 20 pro with better specs.
Apple, why this boy is expensive?

It was an expected response to Apple products. Reason for the same is high pricing of Apple products. It has allowed competitors to pitch in their products just below the iPhone prices. Apple has allowed these companies to sell inferior or cheap products at much higher cost but lower than Apple's price. It allowed companies to sell $100 phone at $300 and $300 phone at $600 and so on. These companies have accumulated huge profit due to Apple's pricing and now have deep pockets. They will pose real threat to Apple in times to come. Apple has to rationalise its pricing policy.

Lower iPhone XR sales vs. iPhone XS/XS Max sales is great news for Apple. It means majority of its user base don't want to be identified as being cheapskates by buying the cheaper iPhone XR. They buy instead the older iPhone 8 models which are even cheaper than iPhone XR but which don't make them look like they can't afford the latest iPhone (even if that's the truth).

Apple can therefore increase iPhone prices even further up to reinvigorate and strengthen its waning fake image as the 'best phone in the planet money can buy.' :)

Dropping prices to make iPhones more affordable is never good for a company that only has fake prestige and fake claims of superiority to hold on to. If its prices drop, the illusion of prestige and luxury is lost. Trust rapidly erodes and Apple will become what Blackberry and Nokia are now, so no, I don't think Apple will ever reduce prices in the future iPhones or it will be the end of the brand's luxury image as we know it.

Make an iPhone SE X already.

Samsung is the worlds biggest phone vendor, Apple is no longer second, despite Huawei being banned from selling in one of the biggest markets in the world.

if more people are buying the IPhone 7 and 8, means pricing has gotten out of hand

and possibly phones have gotten too big... the XR is huge! it should have been the same size as the IPhone 8 or even max 5inch screen.

                                      1.Samsung
                                      2.huawei.
                                      3.apple.
sales diff btw Samsung and Huawei is big.

Well without any bias I would have to say these:

                                        1. Apple should really learn how to exploit the kind status that many people give to its phones (as well as any of their products). Many people think of iPhones as holding a prestigious status and would love to own one (not me though). Apple should ride this wave and in order to do this they should not irrationally increase their prices just for the sake of their investors, but rather make them quite affordable for all this kind of people in order to sustain their sales and thereby profitability.

                                        2. iPhones in general are never a bad product in any way (it all just comes down to preference), if they are priced meaningfully I'm sure there are millions of potential buyers in addition to the current number of customers.

                                        3. Exorbitantly increasing price year after year is REALLY not a good idea for the long run. I know one could argue that the relatively new designs of recent iPhones may demand more profit due to being an early technological development to cover up for R&D, but Apple should not literally increase price each consecutive year. This is surely going to upset buyers and hurt sales in the long run even among the most avid iPhone fans.

All in all we frequently learn about declining iPhone sales or sales not meeting expectations/predictions and if this keeps on happening then the iPhone is potentially going to be reduced to only a comparatively few users, only/near a single digit percentage of iOS market share. This will lead to reduction in number of users of all Apple's paid services, again hurting Apple's revenues.

So even if iPhones enjoy the highest Average Selling Price, increased (hardware i.e. phone) prices could prove disastrous in the long run.
