If you have $10M and you need to repair your Apple laptop, would you go to official Apple center or 3party?
Money is not a problem for Apple users. They paid $800 for iPhone, now $1400... demand is even better.

RIP right to repair, once people realize that components that apple use aren't as expensive as much apple usually charges, they stop trusting Apple and goto people like Louis Rossman. This is just another move by Apple to squeeze every penny out of their "customers".

all the security companies are share the same word: HW access means no security at all.
it does not matter if apple put T2 or anything else on their product if some one want's to get info s/he can.
also this means if you by any means want and are able to repair your device, there is almost no way or it would be really costly.
i personally prefer to repair my devices by my own hand(cause the enjoyment that i get for the act)
and touch ID thing you mentioned is total BS because they(CIA/FBI/.....) might already have all of your touch ID so what you want to protect? STH that already has been in their hand?

Would not be at all surprised if aPple would be banned from selling products others can not repair. Perhaps unless all repairs are free...

its funny how an apple article brings out the hate mob.
there are pro and cons in everything in life including this. the T2 chip protects the user so their data isn't stolen. u just need to go on youtube and u will find dodgy repair shops taking ur computer and snooping through ur pictures and stealing data. the UK Watchdog has shut down repair shops aplenty for stealing data.
mac users can still get their computers repaired through authorised dealers with peace of mind.
haters don't own apple devices so this doesn't concern them in just the same way I don't own an audi car and it doesn't concern me if their repairs policy is good or bad.
if android devices do something terrible at some point then I wouldn't be coming on here showing my hate bcuz it doesn't concern me at all. haters are haters probably bcuz they have problems to deal with or are just miserable people.
enjoy life and don't waste energy on things that don't matter to you . peace out

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2018Why would you get the macbook in the first place if you wil... moreMy guess is that he or she didn't know anything about computers and bought into the marketing...my friend did the same till the macbook fell and broke,I then introduced her to the wonderful world of Lenovo thinkpads that are made to be easily repairable, are Shock and water resistant as well as Mil-Spec certified...never looked back

People often buy Apple because they are left with no options. In case of tablets that are close to my heart, Android OEMs plain refuse to manufacture one with up to date hardware despite it being a bigger market than laptops (in units shipped) and 2in1s are not really tablets (run desktop OS, meant to be used with mice most often than not).
It is always the same story. OEMs being boneheaded. Apple creates a product that is actually useful and then proceeds to rip customers off based on the fact that they have no competition.

Whats the point to just pay more for a apple product and then have windows on it with the price of 2-3 times lower hardware then you can get for the same price as macbook ?
