Probably only temporary bad rep and after a while, most people will forget. This is the era of short attention retention. Xiaomi got what it wanted though, something lit whether good or bad.

See, if you have a sale whereby 10 people are happy and millions unhappy, then it's a stupid decision and so not worth it....
A better way is to have normal sales and in that, 10 users gets randomly selected and they pay lesser. Simple.
This way at least genuine buyers and fans will get benefit and not gold diggers with fast internets.

An easy way to get around missing a flash sale is to order it the day before at regular price and using a card with price protection and use the flash sale price to get them to cover the difference.

I suspect the 'random' element is nonsense. Else why not run the pool longer. No need for it to instantly disappear.
My suspicion is that they mean 'random' as in, 100 people all clicked the link at the exact same time, the server cannot determine who was first in the queue and the load balancers and database queries will not return in equal times, and as a result may end up not being truthfully sequential.

Everybody , as soon as you clicked "buy", got the out of stock message and apparently its then gone to a lottery where 10 are picked at random. Thats not what they advertised. Whole thing was very badly implemented at best or an outright scam at worst.

With all these sales in what ever be a some TV let say 42inch 4K and if it's sod for 100 Euro then there will be people sleeping in front of the store for a week and all will lose there humanity. Running over other people or take the TV out of someone hand by force and so on.
This thing isnt different. If something is given for free or close to free, then people wi downgrade them selves lower then animal.
