So first they say that the sails are only 1/4 of the result Nokia wanted and now they say it's among the best selling phones now and the sales are way up high?

3STAFF, 24 Nov 2011Well our call centre is based in Manchester now, and our co... moreyour 99% coverage is 2 g not 3 g for smart phones and your coverage is spread finely across the country so during peak times your signal coverage shrinks and gets weaker, you have a long long way to go before you can compete with signal strength and reliability

[deleted post]True, unfortunately, the manufacturers did not want to commit and only half hearted attempts came out, while they concentrated on Android. The WP7 phones that came out looked like boring Android phones, except worst.
Only after the Nokia + Microsoft deal, has a true WP7 champion come out, and the results are already apparent as can be seen in this article. Now watch, as the other manufacturers will not want Nokia to get all the glory, and they will also produce great WP7 phones to compete.
I guess all I can say is we have to wait and see. If I am wrong, I would stand corrected. Would you be able to do the same?

phonez4noone, 24 Nov 2011Dont make me laugh 3 sold out yeah right how many did you h... moreWell our call centre is based in Manchester now, and our coverage has improved over the past couple of years and atm we provide specially the past 12 months and we cover 99% of UK! and the reason we sold out mostly is because we gave the handset free of charge on our "The one plan"which is £37 on this handset! it was a large batch and it all went with in hours!

Nokia has realised faster than the other companies that user experience is the key to good smartphones, and not just yelling 'GHz GHz GHz!' at the top of their lungs like Samsung. They will get fantastic sales, and WP7 will probably take a chunk of Android market share in 2012.
Well done Nokia.

[deleted post]Yeah of course it's advertising, that must be why tons of people everywhere are already walking around with it and the shops with pricing and contract plans are sold out. Of course it does not say how many has sold out, if it's 100 000 units or 1 million units, but the fact is that it is still sold out. All fake right? All those people you see now on the street using a Lumia 800 must be Nokia employees! Get a clue..

Oh please, Vodafone maybe, ISO, ANDROID, and RIM. that's all people are interested in at the moment, give it time then will see if the Lumia is a success, each time Nokia release a smartphone you hope they do well, but it's just okay, or there's interest at first and people buy but after a while interest stops...N96,N97,N8,E7 all have done okay but there missing that real BANG! Marketplace looks promising, but it's more expensive than the app store, OVI or Nokia store had too little apps to expensive.

I have had the Lumia 800 for 2 days now and after having an iPhone for 24 months including a 3GS and 4, it is the FIRST time something has come out that can compete with the iPhone (IMO). Granted the app store isn’t there yet, but I have proven that in reality what apps do I actually use day to day.....those are readily available in the Windows Phone App Store (Facebook, eBay, Angry Birds!!!)
I have a team of 9 developers and everyone has said it is the slickest, fastest, most pleasing OS they have seen for some time and developers are VERY critical!!!
The OS is VERY fast which is THE key thing with modern tech.....speed. It is the way everything 'swoops' in and out, the way programs close, it is excellent. Its just how you would want a piece of tech to interact with you.
It is amazing how your brain can become programmed to a specific way of working though.....the apple way!! I still go for the lock screen on the top!!!
I think that this is an excellent platform to build on. Make it thinner, make it even faster, tune up the home screen, relocate the lock/power button and Nokia and Microsoft will be a force to be reckoned with.
I have to say that I would be happy to stand outside a Mac store with the Nokia and say 'there is now an alternative'!! If you are considering an iPhone alternative, give the Lumia a look in.....
