Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018Do you think UFS 3.0 can surpass NVMe in the iPhone?UFS 2.1 already surpasses it, that's why Androids could open apps faster than iPhones already
UFS 3.0 would simply obliterate it

don't know how you deduce that from my comments....
huawei was first on android to introduce 7nm technology. kudos for that. never liked any huawei phone, and most likely never will. they spend more on marketing than on quality products and they way over expensive for what they offer, but i'm not samsung/apple sheep that only defend one brand. frankly I'm waiting for other brands to join 7nm club because I know SD version will be better, not because it will be faster (2-10% will not matter to me) but because it will consume less energy. Less energy means no need to carry 250g phone in my pocket, and I don't need 4000mAh for my usage. If I can have a less heavy phone, a smaller footprint with same screen size (5.5" is enough for me) and the battery will carry more time than I've (less worries) I will upgrade my phone...till that phone comes..i will wait.

Pointless testing phones now a days are fast enough for the average user to not care in daily usage , makes me wonder why they do this comparision and not a comparision over 6 months to 1 year of usage to see if they still maintain the speed. That they set out with.

No matter how fast the processor can be. If the android software can't optimise it. it's pretty useless. by far in experience it was Sony who made the best software optimisation with processors be it mediatek or qualcomm. that's the reason why Sony can make the battery life longer than any Phone even if it have lower mAh.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018That one core at 2.84 GHz will never kick in into action in... moreActually higher cores cause severe heating issues and its best to restrict their full potential of keep them low in numbers. And with the Arm DynamIQ instruction and processor setup, the highest core will always be performing together with the middle and lower cores. So it will be a mix of both great performance and great energy consumption.

I can see people commenting that Apple has been faster since 2015 or so... Agreed.
But its of no significance. Closed architecture, different apps, productivity-less set of features, not even memory card or OTG, etc.
And lastly, any other chipset is a lot cheaper.
A S9+ for example is faster than the older A11, while being cheaper than the A11 enabled phones...

Push the boundaries of what that unit can do, make Qualcomm, Exynos and Apple see what can be possible! Not sure why that's so hard to comprehend, maybe it's my delivery approach. idk.

Not sure why you're 'attacking' me for my opinion on the K980. Objectively speaking I would think they could have made that processor a powerhouse to be reckoned with, not edge out tech that was released at least 9 month's ago and build on the 'old' 10nM die.
And please I beg of you, don't confuse me with any iPhone sheeple. I haven't used any iPhone that impressed me, consistent speed is useless if the phone functionality is garbage for me.

what's the point of having more 2% speed if you will not notice and have 1 less hour a day that you will notice every day? not to mention more heat for your hand, less comfort, and the hardware will age faster (heat).

Benchmark scores are not thqt useful in real life usage of the phone.even the best hardware can be easily crippled by a poorly optimised software.
Talking about SoC Apple is best both in performance and efficiency and they have some of the best SoC designers in their Labs.but considering their strict control over software and hardware of their product play a great role in this.they dont have to care about price, comptetion because their SoCs are only used in Apple Products so its easier for them to make the Processor Cores larger without caring for the prices.but Qualcomm have price restrictions and comptetion becase they have to sell their SoCs to other companies.
Considering all those things I think Snapdragon SoCs are the best in android world without any doubt. All these benchmark results are waste of time for normal user, read Anandtech review of the SoCs.
Exynos 9810 looking better in Geekbench single score test,Anandtech revealed it was the most inefficient SoC among all flagship SoCs and 845 was better in almost every type of scenarios.hope samsung has resolved this issue in 9820.
Taking about Huawei K970...everyone knows that to ook better on benchmark results huawei cheat on the results. In Anti-Cheat benchmarks K970 was much worse.hope this is not the case this year with K980.
Qualcomm chips are currently the best, most balanced SoCs in Android regimen.Performance/Efficiency ratio,Sustained performqnce results,LTE chip,GPU are best for SDs.Funny thing is that Adreno 630 was the smallest in size compared to all other flagship GPUs and even then Adr630 was the fastest that show how far they aeally are in GPU department.

do you only care about benchmarks? because any in real life it will be butter smooth.
In fact any SD from SD820, SD835, SD845, SD710 and even SD660 you will have a great experience in any android.
If you only care about benchmarks please go to Apple products. They have great hardware, but IOS is so dumb, It's not for me. When they put back button in top of the screen (left) when our fingers are on bottom all the time, and we use back 500x a day...it hurts me when I use my ipad, asking myself...why apple why.....now I only use it time to time...since i've much better experience and fluid productivity in an android device.

this chipset is more likely to aim against ipad pro's a12x than the a12 itself on iphone xs's.
it would be for like chromebooks but if this goes in a phone, it would be nice for once that android can come into the same score as a12 as this will only noticeable on benchmarking but not games as apps depend on software+hardware optimization and Apple has that advantage over developer support for running apps smoothly and efficiently even on older chipsets.
