Whackcar, 15 Nov 2018The initial leaks for the Kirin 980 also showed such over-t... moreSnapdragon paper Soc in reality are nothing just a weak Soc.

when compared to a PC processor who is comparable to who?

iamchristofer, 15 Nov 2018Shanti Nope, an 850p screen with great colour reproduction ... moreI'd trade some color accuracy (which I'd never even use that much in reality) for superior sharpness, especially when even 1080p is starting to look average already in shear resolution.
Besides, color accuracy can be fixed with some tweakings in the color temperature of the screen (I set my Redmi 5 Plus to Standard Contrast, and it's fairly close to a color accurate screen already, specifically my sister's iPhone 7 Plus), but there is absolutely NO fix for a low resolution panel, since it's a hardware conflict.
It's okay if you find such screen resolution in 2018 to be acceptable for $500. Most of us don't.
Even Sony has already abandoned 720p displays on their flagship devices (XZ2 Compact with a 5" screen has 1080p resolution!)

Considering it is Antutu, probably worst most popular benchmark, I would take heavy dose of salt with it, until I see geekbench 4 or gfxBench, no point to get excited

iamchristofer, 15 Nov 2018SD8150 attached to a friggin' freezer to achieve a hairline... moreHahahah so true and still can’t beat A12X Lol. Snapdragon on paper only in real life performs like shit this after experience with one plus 5, 5T, 6, G6, pixel 2xl, Htc u11, u11 Plus and note 9 snapdragon found that Apple A Soc and Exyons Soc the best the only things better on snapdragon 4G LTE tad faster.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2018As usual snapdragon on antutu highest score geekbench worst... morein android mobile phones we have all the heaviest applications you can think of, that's why some brands don't use proper cooling systems and it overheats.
iphones maybe equipped with a powerful chip but there is nothing to really test the great performance of it, so that's why it won't get hot.

iamchristofer, 15 Nov 2018Shanti Nope, an 850p screen with great colour reproduction ... morethe sad truth is that apple fanboys still convincing themselves that iphone 850p display is better than 1080p and 1440p... i feel sad for you guys.

Shanti Dope, 15 Nov 2018Nah, you can't be sure to that. What's definitely sure is ... moreShanti Nope, an 850p screen with great colour reproduction is still better and faster than a 1080p/1440p screen with CMYK-ish colours. Don't be sad, you'll get there.

What's definitely sure is that all phones that would use this chipset would charge immediately as soon as they're connected to a power source.
All phones that would use this chipset will never use a low quality 850p display on a large surface area, even for as low as $300.

I would rather see some optimisation to better utilise this speed, processor race so yawn, there are no apps that will ever make the most of this raw power so what's the point really, I mean I know its an apple vs android, so it will never really stop, I would like to see developers make some apps that can harness this speed but also I doubt we will see that either, console graphics gaming would be fabulous, if the PS vita and Nintendo switch for example have higher end games on small screen devices, there is no reason why larger phones can't have them, then u could actually use the gaming phone monikor at least

SD8150 attached to a friggin' freezer to achieve a hairline margin from A12. Cute.

They will release a software update and claim to have 2x more power over current Kirin 980 scores.

Who cares, they all are fast now, so everyone is happy.

You may be the fastest runner in the world (HARDWARE). But if you are not the smartest (SOFTWARE), you might lose to the smartest runner who knows the shortcut.

I prefer a smartest runner to a fastest runner. Because i do not care who run the fastest, i only care for the one that finishes it first.

And based on the benchmarks, there is little difference between the runners' speed.

The initial leaks for the Kirin 980 also showed such over-the-top numbers, but the reality was much different.

I expect the same with this SD8150. The real score will be very underwhelming.
