Both motorized pop-ups and manual sliders offer a way to circumvent the notch. But which design is better?

Good to know most people agree with my opinion. Manual sliders are indeed better than both the motorized options due to being more practical & more reliable. The Pop-up mechanics may be more aesthetically pleasing to view, but not reliable for long-term usage.

Also, it's quite fun to slide a phone. It used to be a common thing back in the day.
