Snapdragon 8150 AI benchmark crushes the competition, Helio P80 a close second

Could someone please explain to me why I would care about this? How does our phone use this in daily circumstances? I never use the assistant. Or voice command. Or face recognition. Will I get any benefit out of this?

Balor, 20 Nov 2018Maybe it's because they are still to be released ?Yes but this is stupid. Now you can go and buy Huawei Mate 20 pro or Apple 10 max. Where are phones with Snapdragon 8150? Here in Europe we don't get them anyway. Every year we have to wait up to June or July to buy them. And Google Pixel together with Nokia are the worst. Their devices with old Snapdragon 845 need at least one year to be released. So this is why Android is always weak in benchmarks comparing to Apple and IOS.

How are these benchmarks even made, what they assess, what those scores mean - what does f***ing "AI benchmark" even means? Is it voice recognition speed, face finding speed, route calculating speed? What should I, as a consumer, compare when seeing these benchmarks? Useless gimmick, as always...

Anonymous, 20 Nov 2018Underclocked due to overheating of snapdragon 845.I don’t know where you get this idea that the 845 overheats, in fact I haven’t seen a single news source with that being an issue, I use a s9+ and have never seen it overheat, and I’m a extreme power user who charges it 3 times a day.

I hate these benchmarks of unreleased SOC's like Snapdragon 8150 and Mediatek P80. Show me phones equipped with them? The answer is ZERO. None. Kirin 980 is the best SOC for 2018. Next year we'll see. Please Gsmarena team don't do these stupid misleading comparisons anymore.

Heh!
Development platform has about the same size as a tablet has... So these numbers are when the SOC does not throttle... When you put that SOC inside the phone, you have to deal down the speed somewhat...
So waiting for real benchmarks... sometimes in the future.

Plus, that's the CPU, the Pixel's AI stuff should run on the Pixel Core or at least the Snapdragon ISP (it's how the GCam is ported to non-Pixel phones).
Whatever this benchmark runs on, the Pixel results are comparable with other S845 phones. Only the OnePlus 6 sticks out like a suspiciously sore thumb.
