Good Tim Crook to greedy. Selling phones for $1500 with no innovation. Good phone but certainly not worth the price. Long may it continue. You can buy 8plus and iPhone 8 for that price. That's two phones.

Why does the youtubers endorse these extortionate prices on MOSTOF Apples products. Stay keeping it REAL GSM arena we LOVE your site.

Apple products are extremely desired, they still have a lot of tools to prop up sales if they wanted to.

Who said you need to be able to afford the latest and greatest flagships? Who said you need to be able to afford a Mercedes? Buy what you can afford and keep quiet.

They should've ditched the notch and lowered down the price from the start.

Apple's current business model is clearly not sustainable. If it doesn't back down nor invoke a new consumer-friendly strategy, its market (or iOS) share will decline substantially and the iPhone (at least current generation onwards) will be reduced to a mere luxurious item that 1% of the world population owns. Which is in turn bad for Apple's overall revenue and further business services.

What is fearsome is that the company might potentially induce other companies as well to increase their prices which has started to become a reality. I just wanna say this because it is bad, really bas for us consumers.

One thing I'd like to comment from your points is that although providing long and unmatched software support to its phones is a great and applaudable feat and one of the boasting songs of its owners/fans, turns out this could potentially backfire too, given the insane prices of their new phones. Both these factors combined gives owners of older models a serious excuse to not upgrade to newer models.

Speaking of fans, where they all at? In these kinds of articles? Hmm..

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2018Apple is next NokiaThis. Apple cutting prices for new device is a huge deal.

If Apple could launch an XR like this: A11 SoC, 3GB ram, the same double camera module of the iPhone 8 Plus and no more than 5.3 inch screen with 1080p resolution with minimal bezels, compact size and retail price of $600... probably an instant hit.

I honestly expect the iPhone XR to be in sale for $500 or under in a few months..

                  Slow sales = lower prices

I wouldn't pay more than $300 fo any new iPhone. I think iOS stinks unless you're using an iPad. Smartphones sales need to decline and we need to stop buying them so these greedy companies can stop raising their prices to $1000.

The slower the sales, the better for us as consumers. This is honestly the worst era in all of smartphones. High prices, notches, no headphone jack, glass backs, extremely incremental upgrades, etc.

We as consumers should just say NO. Let this smartphone craze die. Most phones can be used for a minimum of 5 years. Just change the battery every 18 months and don't update the software all the time.

What prices really should be on 2018 iPhones?
                        Iphone XR $480
                        IPhone XS $750
                        Iphone XS Max $850

More than that is a misunderstanding.

If this report is genuine, it means disaster.
Apple never* cuts prices, never. So for them to do such a thing is a big telling. Especially when the device is only WEEKS old. That means the pre-order window has already dried up, and sales have slumped massively.

And the bigger alarm is the re-continuation of a discontinued product. What this means in certainty, is that Apple had a strategy for 2019-2020, which was to reduce the older iPhone 7-8, and convert people still using an iPhone SE, 6, and 6S, to the new iPhone XS family. And to shift strategy this quickly means that Apple are being AGILE to realise the strategy has already failed.

I will be honest, I though Apple would succeed. I thought the rich Americans/West Europeans/Asians would upgrade to the iPhone XS's. While the middle-class people might get pressured into buying the iPhone Xr. We're talking millions of existing users. It seems like both expectations are not successful.

I personally think the factors that lead to this are (least to most likely):
                          - The competitors have gotten better
                          - The lack of Fast-Charger and Dongle in the box has angered and spooked some potential customers
                          - The notch is stylistically bad, and the weak-back glass is unpractical, the average consumer is now recognising that Apple is no longer offering something more desirable than competitors
                          - There's not THAT much upgrade in terms of performance, battery life, speaker and camera quality when coming from an iPhone 7 to any of the new models
                          - The pricing of the new iPhone Xr, XS, XS MAX are slightly bit high in the USA
                          - The 720p LCD screen of the iPhone Xr looks unappealing on a spec-sheet, and is turning away potential customers

On top of those little factors above, the main factors seem to be:
                          - New iOS v12 has extended the lifetime of older devices, mitigating the need to upgrade yet (especially after savvy owners get their batteries replaced)
                          - Outside of the USA (and proxy Canada), the international models that get a further +30%-80% price increase represents overpriced goods, and the market is unsustainable at those unnatural profit-margin increases, so even "whales" are beginning to not afford the product

So what is Apple's new strategy?
It sounds like they want to be more consumer-friendly, just to save their own bacon from the shareholders. They're struggling to maintain their revenue, so they're attempting to entice potential customers again by reducing the International Xr price, perhaps to bring it to +10%-30% of the USA prices. And using the iPhone X moniker as a placeholder to boost the XS family sales. Overall, this is a bad short-term solution and it doesn't work well. What we might learn is that the 2017 iPhone X was not really a success, and the iPhone XrSm are also not a relative success... as a strategy to push higher-priced and larger profit-margin products.

There's a strong possibility that Apple, alonside its own Semiconductor production, is going to be producing its own screens (OLED or microLED), in the coming year(s)... which is going to aid in reducing the Bill of Materials. Simultaneously Apple will phase out The Notch with these models, perhaps introducing under-the-oled-screen (front camera, combined biometrics faceID-touchID). And as importantly, look into including a Fast-charger as standard in the box, and focus on improving the battery life of all new variants. All the while, reducing the prices of its new phones. This is to offer more bang, for less bucks, become less consumer-hostile, and regain market share and stabilise its revenue (at the expense of the greedy profit margins)....which is what most shareholders would prefer, a long-term plan instead of a short-term haste.
