Anonymous, 23 Nov 2018Definitely. Prototype benchmarks show that it's already kil... morenot in CPU single-thread/multi-thread and latency they don't. A76 are great and all, but it won't beat Apple's A12 "Vertex" core.

EskeRahn, 23 Nov 2018I must admit I'm a little sceptical on the consequences of ... morethe problem of 810 and 808 are the A57 design by ARM and the problematic TSMC's 22nm process that still rely on SOI rather than FinFET. It has nothing to do with the CPU setup.

eLeKtRoN, 23 Nov 2018Nokia has an event on December 5And you think that nokia will be first to use the S8150? Well.. I am skeptical about it. ANNOUNCING a product and RELEASING it for use are two different things as far as I know.

EskeRahn, 23 Nov 2018I must admit I'm a little sceptical on the consequences of ... moreMajor heating was caused by the inefficiency of 28nm process. 16nm and lower all are more capable of maintaining sustained performance for a long period of time.
Cortex A76 appears to be quite a power hungry and might cause more heat, but Qualcomm knows how to make them run cool.

EskeRahn, 23 Nov 2018I must admit I'm a little sceptical on the consequences of ... moreWell, the reason the 810 and 808 sucked so bad cuz it wasn’t their own core architecture, it was a default ARM architecture. When they design their own cores they usually do a great job.

I must admit I'm a little sceptical on the consequences of "a new CPU design".
I guess we all too well remember the 810 and 808, and the heating issues....
Let us hope they have learned the lesson and we do not see a repetition...

Wayne Morellini, 23 Nov 2018Around the same day as the Nokia reveal in the middle east.... morethe RED Hydrogen uses just 4. 12.3 x2 on back and 8.3 x2 on front. 4k@30fps and it has SD835 with 6 gigs of RAM. and it weighs a hefty 263grams.
the cost is a whopping 1400$, however it has a holographic camera.

Around the same day as the Nokia reveal in the middle east. Could there be a 5 camera flagship reveal. There was to be a seven camera capable snap dragon. Let's hope they have good video camera compression circuits to reduce heat when handling seven cameras.
Meanwhile, where is that Red Hydrogen? How many cameras does it have? How much resolution and framework rate? What chip does it use? How much? What will light and or Nokia do? I appreciate light listened and put a 4k video mode on the light 16. We will see what they do in mobile, if anything staggering in video?

Anonymous, 23 Nov 2018But will it be better than the Kirin 980?Definitely. Prototype benchmarks show that it's already killing everything else. (Yes, that includes A12 Bionic).
