I am talking about the screen itself. In fact there are two phones that can be compared: Nubia X Vs Redmi Note 6 Pro, both have 6.26 inches and 19:9 aspect ratio and are bezelles, but the later have a notch. so Nubia X has more display area. Gsmarena are incorrectly indicating that the two have the same area, that's incorrect, the notch reduce inevitably the screen area.

just put a slim bezel where the camera and speaker-earpiece resides and that's it! there's nothing wrong with slim bezels!

A notched phone has more screen at the same device size than a bezeled phone. So for the same device size you 6.4 inches w Notch. Or 6.2intch w bezels. Which is silly

Most people with thinking brains think that having the sides usable is better than not.
You want even them to be bezels for no reason at all. Samsung did that. Samsung sold poorly. Every years worse than the last. Thankfully she seems to be learning from her mistakes.

For example, a notchless 6.4 inches with 19:9 aspect ratio has more display area than a notched one with the same diagonal screen size and aspect ratio. You have be robbed.

adding a few millimeters of bezel to make space for useful parts without compromising: best space spent on the entire phone. I was on board with the whole bezel shrinkage thing in the days of the LG G2, but these days I don't understand at all why everyone is so obsessed with reducing phone size by a few millimeters and willing to accept compromises for it.

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2018slider phones and double display are better proposals.Of course, small batteries, 200g+, moving parts, what's not to love about a slider design? Ditch the selfie altogether at least for 1-2 models. Huawei has dozens of models, I'm sure one selfie camera-less one wouldn't be that much bother.

Next tech should be like foldable screen over the notch, not the foldable phone with a notch. But I got to say hole on the side is better than some gargantuan notch in the middle, you will just have to cut more of those round corners you are used to(with software bezel).
Its no awesome tech like under screen fingerprint, just messing with users, as its so simple even entry level phones got such feature. Noth worthy a flagship and those prices.
Thats why people go pika pika with their comments, but they soon may go poco poco...

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2018Sony is long dead anyway, it's like 4-5 years behind on design.You better comment Samsung don't making a hole on screen for front camera, it is dead pixel alike, no need bother Sony because that hole is a bad design but has been marketing and advertising as a great solution and great gimmick. Some of the people will still enjoy those tiny bezel than a annoying black hole.

Front camera also use for video chatting it help some wife manage a well-control to her husband when she want to know where is her husband doing. Some beauty or handsome guy also use the front camera as a alternative mirror.
