The selfie camera has been causing smartphone designers headaches as it obstructs their quest of slimming bezels down to nothing.

I wish there was no selfie camera and front was all display. I used the selfie cam maybe once or twice in my whole life and didn’t need to even then. I can’t imagine it being worth making a cutout in your display.

Aren't any non-narci... moreEven if you don't normally use the front cam, removing a potentially useful feature (with face unlock etc., its uses have actually been increasing recently) for the sake of a few mm of screen doesn't sound like a good trade-off to me. There might be that one time some day when the front cam is just what you need, and if that happens it's already worth having. Getting rid of the front cam to be full-screen actually seems like a very "fashion over functionality" kind of idea to me, and I thought people around here usually hate that way of thinking.

            kupfernigk, 26 Nov 2018You never make video calls?Front facing cameras are like small case fans(under 92mm) - they improve airflow, but unless it's a server in a rack they're more noise pollution than cooling. Just get some aluminium tape and tape the back of your phones case with it, you'll save 90€ (if not more) and your camera experience will only improve since the smartphone division will be able to focus more on the back camera.

                While we're at it, why not make a screen hole for the fingerprint reader, one in the center to access the battery, and one for cpu ventilation?

                or just make one big hole with a small screen bezel on the frame?

                  Essential got it right. Apple did not and sheep still bought their ugly design and competitors still copied it.

                            Use something like 6T and Vevo in screen fingerprint sensors are using. There is a hole for fingerprint sensor in screen but it doesnot messes with the display

                                  i think slider in better ,

                                    Lets be honest, notches looks dumb and covers huge portion of screen, killing any astethics. Minimalistic Waterdrop or cutout for camera is the only way to go, until we can hide camera under display and forget notches even existed.

                                      On the top bezel like Samsungs s8/s9 that works and looks best.. no ugly notch ugh...
