Folks, the main issue here is, you have no privacy to what you do in life. Saying " I don't care because I'm not doing anything wrong", means, even though I did not give you permission to spy on me, it's okay.........I give up my rights as an individual !!! That's what you are saying, think about it. Google, Apple, BB, etc, have no right to track what you do implicitly. This should be an option you have to enable. However, they will find a way to trick you into giving up your rights. Spying on people, wasn't this some that the KEMLIN use to do to the people of Russia?

Folks, this is a much BIGGER picture in gloablization and control than you think.

Perfectly fine that if you are not doing any thing illegal... but what about privacy? how would you like if some one was watching everything that you were doing....that too on your personal mobile phone.....that information can later on be used against you as well... what if some one hacked into it and stole your i.d....?

Well, if you are not doing anything that's out of law or illegal you shouldn't be worry too much. If you went to a cafe and had some drink, so what if they know where you are? Unless you are hiding who you are meeting in the cafe.

Think of it from the other side, law enforcement. WHAT IF this tracking device could help your country and homeland much safer (eg. tracking bad guys etc..) This would be a great clue for them.

Another one is smart advertising, if you search many about latest gadget, you might want to see the accessories advertisement not just random dogfood advertisement.

From today; Nokia has issued the following statement:

"Nokia is aware of inaccurate reports which state that software from CarrierIQ has been found on Nokia devices. CarrierIQ does not ship products for any Nokia devices, so these reports are wrong."

Nokia phones are not infected at all! Again Symbian shows to be the safest operating system on mobile phones.

                                  This isn't new at all!
When you sign the electronic agreement you should read what do you agree with. And I'm sure that this kind of spying is for good and benevolent purposes.
Can you imagine any terrorist group to plan a terrorist attack and if those negotiations are carried out through the smartphone, then the government of any country in the world would have a glimpse of their movement and no problem would have foiled their attempt.
If you have nothing to hide (state secrets), or some illegal movements? Then surely a tip from one handset will not even consider it.
Long is already known that every phone call, every text sent is recorded. And that special software IDPs based filtering of bad words. Such as murder weapon, and something similar. The same happens with all social networks.
The problem is only with the data traffic. Someone will have to pay it. And in any case it will be the smartphone user.
I apologize for my bad English.

The problem is not as much caching the data. The problem is that it is unencrypted (and this has been revealed only on HTC (as far as I know) and they were suppose to fix it) ... then if this data is really sent somewhere ... i cannot be not sure.
As you can imagine they would have either to pay some part of your bill or the carrier wouldn't charge that specific traffic. Carrier locked phones have always had limitations and crap installed in. I think Android is just to open for them to be able to conceal it anymore.
FB tracking cookies, crApple GPS spying .... it is not like I have something to hide but A. i want to know and B. i don't want them to make money out of it
