I never watch those ads if I am interested in a phone.First thing I do is check gsmarena review and photo samples.I am pretty sure that all phone makers do this, and that kind of practice should be banned because not all people are tech-savoy enough and buy their devices just depending on what they see in advertisements!

Same people who accuse other companies for copying Samsung etc... Go quiet when Samsung do something wrong, it is hilarious.

Can we also even rely (and believe) on YouTube tech reviews? Some, yes. Some, no.

For what it's worth.. I have seen most makers keep a specific.. Shot with such and such phone watermark when actually showing samples.. But that was some years ago.. I don't really notice camera samples nowadays

Simple, force firms to embed the exif data in advert pics in electronic media and make it offence to alter exif. One of these firms will find themselves facing court action soon in the EU or UK, seeing as we seem to have just about the toughest advertising laws etc, a couple of huge fines will at least stop them trying this nonsense in Western europe..

This is known since a decade. Then the cameras were so poor quality.. but in adverts the pics looked sooo professional... it was just understood as fact that the picture ia not taken from the advertised phone. This new generation of today is surprised. Okd folks arent

Samsung: "Hmm........ we can't find any good ways to advertise our bokeh skills! Let's search the web and buy the first excellent photo and advertise it like WE did it!"
...
Really samsung? smh...
I mean. really. I can understand it's a typical advertisement movement as I worked in it in my past. but it's still a shallow move imo.

Hahahaha funny people think this a pathetic lies from a company for doing this kind of things. People, its normal for marketing strategy, they just want to illustrate the camera function. I can bet all smartphone companies use DSLR for their marketing purposes (unless specified, for g0dsakes, u can differentiate it with naked eyes).
Just go and see all camera ads on smartphone please. I gave some example:
- Sony Xperia Z1 ad - lossless zoom & low lights, look at the ad, its definitely DSLR.
- Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium ad - Video recording High ISO using Aube, look at the ad, its definitely DSLR
- Iphone selfie 7mp res camera put on big @ss billboard (seriously, do u believe it)
- Iphone low lights ad (dude again, please)
Thats why when Huawei Nova 3i caught cheating earlier makes me dont care at all.
Know the ability of the camera phone u wanna buy, watch reviews for the real performance. Not believe in their ad, period.

Cant expect anything better from a company like samsung.
Never seen Sony and Apple doing this. They might be charging heavily for their devices, but fake marketing is something unacceptable. Consumer shouldn’t be misguided. Sad!!!

Not a new thing. Most of the smartphone companies do this secretly just for reference. As long as they purchase the right to use the image and then clearly clarify the use of function, such as bokeh effect. I think we're good.

Isn't that the whole purpose of marketing though? Sure with the smartphone industry if someone pulls this someone smart enough will catch it and sooner or later it'll be publicly known but those people are kind of niche.
