Also smartphones needs better video codec and log profile, to be able to be truly get professional. Also, way better HDR algorithms for HDR photos too. Maybe we finally get an f1.0 lens along with built in electronic ND filter.
I would prefer a fatter smartphone if it means more robust video (ProRes/ Blackmagic RAW) and photo codec (HEIF and 14-bit RAW).

I wonder why people think the next successor of SD 845 will be SD 8150. Are people so dumb nowadays?

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2018The benchmark tests need to change to catch the cheaters. ... moreThat's a good point but after my suggestion to Andrei all subsequent benchmarks at Anandtech should be run with altered signatures, it should already catch any secretive behavior changes directed at benchmarks, and Anandtech was already among the most reliable when it comes to technical analyses.

As I expected, the 855 would at least match Kirin 980's machine learning performance without an NPU, now that it has a tensor core incorporated into the DSP, it's a notch above. So far there's only any room for speculation left in CPU multicore, in all other aspects SD855 should be superior.

It also started as the baseline for the best devices we have in the world today.
Yes it's true, Apple heavily marketed it as something revolutionary, just like all manufacturers do. The only thing is that Apple nailed it on the first iPhone and it did really deliver the promised results in real world usage.

I rarely even check phone reviews anymore because OEMs aren't focusing on practical features like battery life and only focusing on useless ones like a slightly prettier design or a slightly better display and camera. And with those incremental improvements, they raise the prices by $200 more!
I'm glad the smartphone market is on the decline and Samsung and Apple are struggling to sell their ripoff products. It needs a wakeup call. And they should stop releasing flagships every year and only do it every 2-3 years. We really aren't going to see the difference if we upgrade annually.
Think the video game industry. The PlayStation 4 is over 5-years-old. Just release a slightly upgraded one every two years. But knowing the greed they all have, they will keep releasing flagships every six months to a year. Oversaturated market already. At least it keeps the YouTube tech hipsters/reviewers relevant.
