All later models are totally mediocre in most departments as you can see from the reviews here and at notebookcheck.

Anonymous, 08 Dec 2018No one will pay 5" screen phone for 630$. Wake up boy! They do for Sony compact phones that are always been small and with flagship hardware and same with the price.

What we need is small phone in a under 300 euro range. Or even under 200 euro range.

Really a great news! For past 15 years, I am using Nokia phones only (3310, 6610, 6280, 7230 & E5). All Symbian OS phones. First two were normal feature phones, next two were sliders & last one with qwerty keypad. I was not a fan of Windows OS, so skipped that entire line up. Patiently using my E5 for almost 5 years waiting for Nokia to launch phone with Android OS. Then bought Nokia 3 which I am currently using. Looking forward to something like E5 or E6 (qwerty phone) with Android Go edition. Keep it up HMD Global / Nokia.

Levy, 07 Dec 2018They tapped into the pent up nostalgia for the Nokia brand ... moreDo you think a world Technology leader like Nokia Technologies is going to allow some Chinese Phone design to be branded as a 'NOKIA' phone? All 'Nokia' branded phones are of premium build quality in it's price range. Nokia Technologies isn't that stupid to defame its smartphones brand. This is them playing business with Microsoft probably because of all restrictions from the Microsoft contract preventing NOKIA from directly building smartphones in 5 years of selling the company. Soon you should see Nokia buying HMD and reentering direct production. So will be the case with Alcatel. Currently Nokia technologies has licensed these two brands to third parties, and closely monitoring designs although not directly involving. sharing of technology such as OZO audio and Multi camera is also being done.

Last year, HMD sold less than 20million phones, this year... 70million?! Maybe the Nokia feature phones must have sell a lot than it's smartphones.

HMD nokia can bring back some basic practical models.

1080 300ppi 5" 1.78:1 flat edge full rect full corners oled screen, phone width not exceeding 6.8cm, removable battery, top soc of the time, 4gb ram, 64gb storage, dual sim, top cam and image sensor of the time. 28mm single cam at back, plain basic non modified version of android. msd card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack. not exceeding US$630. new model every 15 months. black no logo no brand at front, hardware home button at front. opened-apps key, back key at sides, usb c port, basic water proof capability.

any people who had used phones for more than 6years should know what are needed. what are unnecessary, wasting money, burden to the earth.

in the long term, people just need updated model having updated smaller nm soc, more ram, more storage capacity, up-to-date connection capability, exactly the need for an updated pc or notebook.
let the users know the brand is committed to something. the base of fan would grow again.
HMD has it own advantage, it is not a Chinese brand. it is an active European brand

for companies except for samsung or apple. if they are not investing heavily in tech and equipment or whole platform (brand, OS, software, hardware design, user experience). they have to adopt some other strategies, bring out something different from samsung or apple. most people only use one phone at a time.
