I m not sick of Nokia but I m sick of Elop..
He is responsible for all these..
When he z goin to realize dat his smartphones r overpriced in terms of specs..
I m not a fool to buy a single core Lumia when in the same price I can get galaxy sll wid a large specs sheet ..
But I wud love to buy a N9 but I can't bcoz it z so costlier..
If Nokia has to really cum back they wud 've to shed their ego & listen to people, increase d specs..,'ve to enter into dual core league..

I believe Nokia needed change but it was perceived and executed differently.
They should've stuck with meego and symbian, they lacked in improving the symbian experience and delivering the N9 differently. Announcing that they would stop support with symbian and meego only made matters worse.
Symbian belle is starting to look nice and modern and the N9 is greatly unappreciated and overshadowed by the lumia 800. I wonder if nokia delivered the improvements with symbian 2 years ago and released the N9 with full marketing support then things mght have been so different. Nokia had the technology and marketing strength to implement this but the microsoft deal happened. We may never know why there was a sudden change in plans but believe that it's not too late.
Nokia could retain the wp7 strategy towards the high end devices and commit and deliver improvements to symbian at a much faster pace for the mid tier devices. Statements such as Symbian/meego is dead truly affected the sales of nokia devices nokia should find a way to explicitly tell the consumers that they are still committed to their devices. Consumers lacked assurance and Nokia struggled with that.

If youre on "budget" WP7, why not buy an Android instead.
There's a reason why Nokia is selling better with WP7 phones than other WP7 brands that have been in the market earlier.

I actually agree with some of your comments but then I disagree as well. We all know Nokia was going downhill with their Symbian and no matter how hard they tried with their Symbian^3 or Symbian Anna it just wasn't appealing to the users. Android and iOS were heavily fancied.
Elop was stupid when he dropped the MeeGo platform. I mean there was so much potential there and with the bright minds of other developers, it would have turned out great. I suppose all in all, Nokia was getting desperate and it didn't want to step down from the top. Maybe it did realise that MeeGo had potential but going with it would take up huge expenses and frankly, they didnt have the expenses or maybe they just didnt want to risk another failure.
Was it smart that they went in altogether with Windows? Yes and no. But hands off, you have to agree that the Lumia 800 is pretty amazing for its first phone running on the OS. Sure the App Market holds very limited apps compared with the other platforms but it'll soon catch up. Microsoft will make sure of that.

I think the major problem here is that when one tech blog posts a bad news about Nokia/WP7, it gets echoed throughout the internet a bit too much. When it's good news, only dedicated Nokia sites and several tech blogs (e.g: GSMArena) post it. That's the problem, a psychological viewpoint that bloggers want to change. All I can say is unless you've personally tried the Lumia 800, don't knock it away.

nokia is going down in every way.don`t know if its Nokia itself or its the people they recruit.
2 days back i gave my X6 to nokia care with lcd problem. instead of solving that they spoiled my unlock button.

The best thing Nokia could do to boost their Lumia 800 sales is to drop the price by, lets say, 20%. I know this sound a bit odd (and wishfull thinking), but that is exactly what Samsung did when they introduced the first Wave phone, and it sold like hot cakes! Samsungs new bada OS was even younger then WP7 and people didn't know much about it, but thanks to great hardware in the device it sold really well. (We wont mention that Sammy dropped the ball on bada and that they could have done a lot better).
Nokia should do the same thing, cut prices and get that good looking phone to as many markets as they can. Lets face it, WP7 has some flaws compared to other high-end devices.. no memory card, single core processor, no front camera and so on. Microsoft is going to solve this in a few months when they lounch WP8, and Mango phones will be a bit dated by then. So Nokia should, i say again, cut prices, get to as many consumers as they can and make people believe in Nokia again like they did 5-10 years ago. And the

I did the 6600, N80 & N82. I finally switched to Android. Nokia was stuck on dated Symbian for too long. Nokia was then lost for years, going from Symbian to Maemo to Symbian3 to MeeGo, now Windows. During all of that time, folks moved on and got used to other systems & all of the apps they came with. I'm sure this phone is great. Nokia should've either upgraded Symbian & came out with apps, or chose a new platform, developed & stuck with it, instead of flailing from one to the other. Too stubborn. Hang it up, Nokia.

We don't want crappy windows os..we love ur simple symbian os..why don't u try to develop symbian to compete with Android or ios..we can't undersatnd...in other hand Windows phone are too expensive...why don't u understand in the world there are mid range customers than high end customers ... open your eyes nokia..see the world...remember that there are still persons that loves ur simple symbian os

If this is where they were heading with Symbian then it's a good thing switched to WP7. At least that'll drum up some interest in them again.

It's pure common sense that Nokia did NOT go with Android. There's a flood of android handsets already on the market. It made sense to go with a more unique OS to capture the imagination of the consumer. I don't know why Nokia went with Windows instead of upgrading Symbian but, I suspect it had something to do with money. Not everybody wants Android. Lots of people would like an alternative. That's why BB, iOS and even Symbian still sells.
So, yeah... Nokia didn't go with Android. Life goes on.
