Basically the camera on the Pixel 3 is overhyped. While it is good, it is nowhere near the best. It does have good dynamic range, but it does blur details a little. Also there is no reason to justify the single sensor camera in 2018, at this price point. Plus the Pixels don't have much else going for them, apart from the camera.
Pixel, stop charging a premium for nothing.

also pixel 3's HDR was way better than even Xs one and slightly better or on par with P20 pro(really couldn't decide which one between pixel and P20 pro was better)
so the 103 really suits PIXEL 3!

I do not know why do give iPhone so high point for iPhone. I use iPhone 5s and I test iPhone X's max and X's and Dr so bad software I do not know where they get that number... And I still think iPhone 5s are the best camera but now it slow like snail in iOS 12.... Big hope for next iPhone more stable is and cheaper phone

They always do their own full camera test. If you want more then visit AnandTech, their review is limited but mind-blowing.

Agree about the photo rating, strongly disagree about video. Anyone who's given the Pixel 3 a try can easily attest that the video quality is extremely underwhelming, probably the worst out of all 2018 flagships. If you're someone who just shoots photos you'll be happy with the Pixel 3, but if you also shoot videos regularly you'll be severely disappointed. That frustrating and unbalanced camera performance bothered me enough to go for another phone in the end.

Also when you look at the crop of the 2x zoom jpg, then you see how bad it looks and it's very obvious. Even if Pixel 3 had 1.5x lossless zoom, it wouldn't look that bad. As I said I have measured that Pixel 3 lossless zoom is only equivalent to ≈ 1.1x lossless zoom in terms of the details.

Dxomark are idiots. I don't know why Gsmarena pays them attention. As you can see the Pixel 3 super resolution zoom is nearly not better than Pixel 2 digital zoom. There is mainly just a little bit more contrast, so when you edit the Pixel 2 digital zoom jpg, there is nearly no difference in details. I have measured that Pixel 3 super resolution zoom is approximately equivalent to 1.1x lossless zoom in good light conditions. It's ridiculous how such a small lossless zoom can deveive so many people. Every year Dxomark compares Pixels digital zoom with Apple's and Samsung's dual camera phones. Only this year they don't want to show how much worse the Pixel 3 is.
