Using the Qorvo chip as intended was deemed non-infringing by both United States International Trade Commission and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California; how could anyone have predicted that would be different in other markets? http://www.fosspatents.com/2019/02/us-court-ruling-shows-qualcomm-is.html

"In Germany, the judge ruled that phones with a chip from Apple supplier Qorvo violate one of Qualcomm’s patents around so-called envelope tracking" - Reuters

I don't understand why Qualcomm is suing Apple and not Qorvo, and why the German court would issue a ban on the company using the 3rd party component instead of the 3rd party that made and sold it.

Phenomk90, 22 Dec 2018Ironically apple is one of the first few companies to start... moreYou have a choice whether or not to buy Apple's phones. To build network compatible phone though, Apple has no choice but to license Qualcomm patents.

Qualcomm charging different amounts depending on the price of the device it's used in is idiotic; why should they get a bigger cut because the manufacturer used a larger, higher quality screen, better and costlier camera module, larger battery, more expensive materials, etc.? It is discriminatory, predatory, and a clear violation of the FRAND terms it agreed to when it submitted the patents for inclusion in the standard.

Yes you could say well if they build one in secret then what would have have to use to fight back.. so max of 5 each. Rest must be dissembled that way if the other country’s has more and build them in secret , you’re still not defenceless , plus then Allie support and so on.

Neither Qualcomm nor Apple is German company so it makes no sense to the ordinary people about the quarrel between 2 American (registered) firms which make their products in China and maybe designed in US, for sure if then designed in US, by Asians. Shame to the German courts to waste the taxpayers’ money for such foreigners’ disputes.

Ironically apple is one of the first few companies to start the overcharging practice on customers for their products and services and when they themselves are the customer of qualcomm when they get the same treatment they started to complain about it. And even went as far as to the court in order to keep the larger portion of the overcharging profit to themselves. Like we are going to believe apple will do us a favor by reducing their prices even if they win all those lawsuits around the world. Instead Tim Cook will only get richer. Nothing else.
