Nokia Lumia 800 becomes the best seller for Dutch carrier KPN

07 December, 2011
It overtook the iPhone 4S, the former leader. Some evidence suggests the 800 is selling well in France too.

I am simply flabbergasted by the amount of useless troll that people post without actually having owned the device. It seems that the world is becoming myopic. Android fanclub is big I agree but hey nothing is perfect........so atleast get hold of a trial phone or better test it yourself before launching a barrage of one-sided unwanted opinions

AnonD-252, 07 Dec 2011Why waste money on Lumia when you get exactly the same, ide... morethe design of lumia is one of the most beautiful ones (if not THE most beautiful of all) and if you don't like it, doesn't mean that is bad. I don't like wp either, but this is nothing to do with the design: just hold one into your hands and see for yourself (the corners are kind of rounded and not sharp at all, and the phone feels very well in your hand).

I will get my Lumia 800 Cyan tomorrow in France, the best design available no screws, no sharp angles, free 3D Nav (why pay 90 euros more?), beautiful screen with Clear black, compare it outside under the sun with a Iphone and you understand, Mango 7,5, is great only those who did not try don't know it yet!
          Nokia Lumia rocks!

I'd been a big Nokia fun until Mr Elop took over and shattered our dreams. Symbian & Meego was the way forward. Mr Elop, please step down. How can you, Mr Elop make a modern smartphone without a front-facing camera? This is quite unbelievable!

Why waste money on Lumia when you get exactly the same, identical, experience, including the "hacked" Nokia Drive..., on any WP7 from Samsung or HTC or... for a lot less money?
The design of Lumia is really bad, the 4 corners are too sharp and very uncomfortable, painful, when holding it in the hand!
WP7 is even worse than Symbian, and even more "locked" than iOS, and apps and games are a lot more expensive than the same apps and games are for iOS!
Nokia-fans are even more blind than Apple-fans!

Come on people! The chart depicts only Windows phones; so the Nokia Lumia 800 topped only windows phones for KPN. Nokia Lumia 800 can't outsell either of the iOS and Android counterparts simple because it's way behind, peroid! Check out for the Galaxy Nexus, people

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2011this is a blind news.... those results only about windows O... moreAnother fanboy of Android. Android is a resource demon, always requiring higher cpu / memory resource.

Why all of a sudden phones are going to dual core / quad core? Yeah some phones that runs android OS have low cpu / memory, but what's the performance? Too laggy? Recent versions of this OS "recommends" higher CPU? WTF!!!!

Do you know how it affects the battery and weight of the phone in general?

Android user here btw. Response time sucks big time on my dual core phone. This popular mobile OS is currently eating out the market of iOS / Windows / Symbian etc, but it in the end it will die if every version upgrades (Android 4 and up) are still inefficient at memory / cpu utilization. Worst is they will make it standard to run their OS phone must have a quad core cpu as a requirement! This is not a desktop / laptop computer, it's a mobile device!

Lumia sells well because of hardware design that is awesome! It is true, why not other OEMs did the same sells with the same OS?? But those people will be borred by the OS, if N9 would have been released in a country where Lumia is available (big markets!!) then Lumia would not have a chance against it!!

Now it will heat up. Nokia coming into action. Nokia's market share was dipping as they are going through transition from symbian to windows phone. 2012 will see floodgates open for windows phones and they will definitely grab market share. Nokia and microsoft are really pushing hard for windows phone, i would like some action from samsung and htc pushing for wp7.5. Android is still the king and iOS will really have hard time when wp7 really come fullfledge. Nokia should concentrate on building a Lumia brand like apple did with iPHONE and all iTHINGS.

I really think in the mobile space is time to get real. time and time again i keep reading reviews how someone will compare the fact that Android has 300,000 apps and iOS has 500,000 this is really bad reporting and at best lazy when in most peoples life time are you going to get a chance to use 500,000 apps one just has to wonder do people like just like the sound of that figure. Next year when WP7 hits its 100,000 app count will people still be moanining?

The reason why i believe the Lumia has seen some success is the fact that 1. It looks good, now i know this is shallow and it really does not involve power but just like that girl or boy you see down the road and they stop you in your tracks looks count for a first time meeting.
                                        2. The Ad campaign has been spot on. The 30 second add where all you see is the colour tiles and the phone with the screen changing tells me all the main features in that time, plus they come in different colours i believ Android needs to learn from this.
                                        3. This phone seems to be in every carephone warehouse and mobile phone shop in the UK and also it is a working model so guess what you can try it
                                        4. Also alot of sales assistants are now geting training on the WP7 OS so they can run you through the basics.

                                        5. And i know i will get shot down for this but i will say it again the average user not the tech nerd dose not care that a phone has dual core or not they just want to know that it runs smooth and i can communicate with my friends easily. can i txt can i do emails does it make a phone call. can i play a casual game while on a bus journey or tube journey is there an easy way to listen to music and a major one can i keep up to date with my social networks if the answer to all these questions are yes and it does it easily then you could be on to a winner. As someone that was an android user and now is a WP7 that is more simply and dosent have dual core and i cant mod it out, for some strange reason i find this phone refreshing. one of my major complaints with Android was the lack of a proper music section as i am a big music fan i find Zune to be brilliant especially as i have all you can eat data.
