    So the front camera still get far worse in low light situations?
    Dropping in pixel size and f stop.
    Why would they reduce it from f1.7 to f2???? Especially if they shrink pixel size

      Seems unintuitive to me. It is better to make the AOD interactive and allow camera access through there. There could be separate icons for front & back cameras.

      Alternatively, they could keep the touch active while the display is off like some of those chinese phones. You just write an alphabet to open the specified app. (for e.g. C for main camera & s for selfie camera).

      There are other approaches too, all are better than putting/dragging your finger on the lens...

          Anonymous, 26 Dec 2018Good way to get the camera dirty?seriously, what year are you living in? General fingerprints won't smudge the camera. It's call oleophobic coating, been introduced years ago. And most likely samsung is gonna make the swipe near the bottom right of that camera hole.

But yeah, Samsung should've just stuck with a thin top bezel, though then again, maybe they fear the possibility of negative feedback

              Cannot wait to open the camera this new innovative way..so i’ll have to clean it straight afterwards to be eble to take a photo..

              Whoever got this ‘brilliant’ idea..bravo! Should get an award for the most stupid idea of 2018/2019 :)

                This thing is intruding more than the short-notch (1+6) or the drop-notch (1+6t).
                And both of those solutions were inferior to the slim-bezel of the S8/S9 range.

                It feels like none of these companies hire designers, you know, actual designers that are focussed on durability and ergonomics. And this is coming from a guy with XL Hands (I can hold a basketball with one palm like NBA Players).

                    Samoled can be prolematic at times but surely samsung will find a workaround.
                    Is it possible that the selfie camera will be used for facial recognition?
