LG G7 ThinQ will receive Android 9 Pie update in Q1 2019

28 December 2018
The timeline sadly only applies to Korea, which means other markets will probably have to wait until Q2.

LG never give good user experience with aftersales service, I'am LG user from LG G4, LG G5, LG V30+, LG G7+... LG never give any update aftersales service for 2 years in my country.. I think LG just give aftersales service from first 6 months. He just care for 2 years for LG Korea version..

AM, 18 Jan 2019And it has already got Pie on 17th Jan. Yes, this is LG wef... moreLG G6 oreo update rolled out in Korea on April 2018, but it took 2 more months to reach US. It's even slower for international market. In my country (Southeast Asia area), the update finally rolled out in September. So, I won't keep my hopes up, assuming that my G7 won't get update at least for the next 5 months (according to the previous experience in G6). Even my phone stops receiving security update after the last one in October 2018.

goran, 31 Dec 2018LG g5 have oreo btwit depends of the version of G5 you have there are some that have been update there are others that are still waiting if maybe can get it. for me say that G5 has been updated doesn't count. not for me and for the ones that are still waiting . it counts when the OS is there and person doesn't know how to update it. but mine RS988 has not been updated . it is shame the way os updates moves with lg it jumps to 2-3 carrier version in us then to 2 carriers in Italy then it jumps to some other in sore regions WTF they should update all variants available per region if they are updating in specific .... so in my case no oreo update and at this point I don't know if I really want it case it is going to be 8.0 not even 8.1 and other makers even with mid range devices has 9.0

after lg g2 (which was a great phone though, I could still use it if it was in working order) and lg g5 (I could only say it was terrible), I would give one more chance to lg for an lg g7. I'm glad that I did not. Such a great company with worst software department. No more lg phones, they need to learn how Nokia did.

yeah will be like this g7 early 2019 while v30 august 2019 g6 by December or so .... mean while lg g5 is on 7.0 really LG what a shame .... while other smartphone manufactures has their mid - low end devices running 8.1 my phone an ex flagship with 4gb ram and sd820 is on 7.0 ........ don't make me laugh

The US carriers "might" get the Pie updated by the time the next Android version is out in the wild. However, those that purchased an unlocked version are likely to never see even a security update. Having purchased an unlocked V30S, I can tell you for certain LG's "Promise" is nothing short of another corporate lie.

Inasmuch as I would like to 'believe' LG's glowing promises about timely software update promises, LG's actual performance teaches me otherwise. LG hasn't even updated yet many INTERNATIONAL, UNLOCKED year old and two year old flagships to Oreo, how much more to Pie? My international release dual SIM (H990DS) V20 (ESA-xx region) still has not received Oreo after more than two years on Nougat 7.0 which was the software it launched MORE THAN 2 years ago! Not even a minor 0.1 android software update, and not even a security patch update (it's still January 2018 security patch)! And it's not only the V20! Go over to the V30 forum and other international flagship LG releases of its G6 and other flagship phones and it's the same complaints from owners of LG phones, in particular, those who have unlocked international phones (which are supposed to be quite easy to update as there is no carrier software to contend with). LG software update support is the WORST BAR NONE . Unless you don't care about software updates and security at all, forget ever buying an LG phone. You'll thank me for it. With LG's market share continuing to nose dive to low single digit levels and soon irrelevant levels, that horrible software update support is only going to get worse.

And also there is no huge support on XDA too. I've found only one custom ROM for G7. That was also unstable. For now, Patience is the only option for me.

Glad I sold mine early. Software support and LG UX is underwhelming for that hardware LG packs. Might not consider LG now even though they might improve some decade

I think it’s kinda good that it is € 100 cheaper than the S9 and gets updates in the same time frame
