Essential Phone discontinued, company working on 'next mobile product'

ethereal, 29 Dec 2018Reading this comment on my Lumia 1920.I abandoned ship a little more than a year ago know from my 950, but for some reason or another I from time to time had to use my old 520 and it is still holding out great. That generation of Lumias were stellar.

i think it is hard for selling in high price with new born company like essential, try to learn from xiaomi!

Maybe next phone they add essential features and the phone might sell better. Who knew that removing headphone jack and selling it as an 150 dollar accessory has impact on sales.

I loved this phone. Very sad that the company is not able to survive. Hope we will have another great phone.

10 years may be 6 years late to market where competition is beyond just specs because everyone can deliver now a days. Nokia and BB keep trying their lost opportunities. Microsoft completely out of mobile phone selling even after acquiring Nokia assets. Even OS like Sailfish, BB, Windows Mobile etc came and gone....
If someone wants to try something, it must be radically different and unique to capture imagination of consumers. Not going to be easy

First company to introduced notch and that so small and these chinese companies first implemented apple ugly big notch than realise essential ph1 notch is better and then termed it as water drop notch

The Essential Phone is a very underrated phone. It was premium hardware in and out, with only the camera being mediocre. I would like to see a Essential Phone 2 with the required improvements. I think it would be successful both critically and commercially...
