It's a damned if you do/damned if you don't issue that all manufactures have to deal with in all devices. Apple's just the current scapegoat.

You think Apple would actually do something which is meant to prolong the life span of a device, if so you would think that would be something they are proud of and not keep secret.
Fact is they created both the shut down issue and then the slowdown 'fix' to encourage upgrades.

We must be very wary of old iphones suddenly acting strange in the coming months, to encourage upgrades. We know Apple have done this many times in the past, question is will they risk it again or know people are watching closely and actually be an honest company now.

Apple's failure was not making it optional.
Some people see it as a conspiracy to force you to buy new phones, but if Apple left the phones as-is, the batteries would wear out faster and then the same people would claim that as a conspiracy to make batteries fail to make you buy a new phone.
Apple has more than enough actual issues and crappy behaviors to deal with as it is. There's no need to make up more.

It begins. I'm just old enough to remember the OS7-8 Era of Macs before Steve Jobs came back. Apple was bleeding money and market share due to high prices, lack of innovation and mainly a lack of a vision for the company. They also had several failed projects like a new OS that never got off the ground and the Newton. Jobs, for all the wrong things he did knew how to right that ship. Tim Cook seems like a good guy, a decent manager but not someone to shake things up. And that's what Apple was supposed to be about. Think Different.

Is there any other phone with a super processor installed. Even the new snapdragon is handled by it. Any other phone witch such a perfect bokeh effect? How about the passive biometrics?
The fact that other phones are thought as better deals is insulting. XR is the best iPhone per $ since forever!
