You forgot Toshiba. Microsoft is another notable mention as they made phones (Kins, Lumias). LG, Panasonic both are at it like Asus. BTW Nokia made a laptop too, remember! Samsung and Apple are at another level of course.

Mobile phone soon will enter dark age where we will get less innovation and more expensive device. Cheaper phones getting better while Apple realizing they are too reliant of their iPhone business and failed miserably with their sales number.

Apple was successful because they stole patents from Nokia, Samsung, and Sony-Ericsson. They stole what they needed to turn iPods into iPhones and spent their money on marketing to douchebags.

reason was simple enough.
The changes in electronics consumer business specially computer and mobiles are fast changing with falling prices. The Chinese market is huge along with competitive pricing they brought down pricing along with quality by making them in bulks. Chinese companies managed or did not care global IP rights. This is major factor is bringing down major cellphone manufactures in-spite of best phones.
There are ups and downs in Chinese manufacturers for over a period, new companies came up, some gone down.
Unless global players don't see users price/feature sensitivity big markets, they cannot win, even apple in long run.

Azmo, 06 Jan 2019Well, this is interesting and all, but where is Samsung? Th... moreThe point of this article is to talk about computer company that failed at making phones. Fyi, Samsung succeed in making phones. Samsung is not just a computer maker. Their electronics division is just a part of the mother company. Also, Sony is not a computer makers. Sony is more of a comprehensive entertainment company. Sony Pictures and Playstation should ring a bell for you. Their computer are actually collaboration with Vaio. Sony no longer work with Vaio. Vaio is an independent company now.

There's also a lot of Linux emulators out there, Linux Deploy for example.
