If he really does not want to stifle choice etc. why is there only one iPhone available that is locked down to the hilt. All other manufacturers manage to put out multiple different devices and give us a choice. HTC, Samsung, LG, Nokia etc. for example. Even their adverts boast there is only one iPhone. You will have what we want and tough luck if you want anything else! That's fine and as you quite rightly point out we don't have to purchase his devices. However, when he starts trying to kill competiton by being in and out the courtroom like a flea in a fit I feel he deserves evrything he gets! What is he is actually trying to do is bully us in to having no choice but to buy his devices by killing everyone else. That I hate and make no apologies for it either.

doriandun, 11 Dec 2011funny, how alot of comments on here, have little understand... moreno it is you who don't have a clue, if you think that all of other smartphone developer need to thank apple, then you also ought to think that apple also ought to thank them form having a phone or else by now apple will be stuck at ipod era. Without the infrastructure 3G/wifi/bluetooth the world would be much-much more a dull place to live.
What I don't get is why don't just apple bought motorola for 12Billion or more since- there are rival, perhaps apple have other plan and don't think that the current wireless and 4G less is not an alarming issue at hand.

They need buffer money to pay for past, present and future lawsuits they will lose.
Compare the lawsuits apple are pushing and what other companies do.
You will find that most of the other companies are filing lawsuit because of stolen or free-riding on "patented technology" while apple is suing everyone else because of design. how childish.

funny, how alot of comments on here, have little understanding of the mobile phone industry.
apples true crimes are not stealing or using patents.
firstly the reason why android, samsung and even nokia are making money today is because of apple, pushing average goods at a premuim price.[think back and rememeber, was the d500, d600 from samsung, n 73, 6630 from nokia, etc ever sold offfline for 300 plus]
Ask yourself how in the world can a smartphone with specs not even comaparable to an old pc, 'p3', cost 400 to 500 uk pounds.
By apple taking this stance network providers have also jumped on the bandwagon, making all new subscribers, take out a contract for 24 months, again mugging the end user.
Today not one phone in the market, is worth in value over £200, [can devalue a laptop, so greatly, with not even a snip of the specs]
the only developement in the industry over the 5 years has been incorporating lcd's, improved microphone quality. All the other components at board level have been generic with very little change.
Some may argue on board, memmory, but i would counter that by saying, was that size not availaible in the market already as a developed technology, i.e like adding a larger hard drive to a pc or laptop.
Another thing you can thank apple for, is making you a sitting target, for criminals, because a phone or tablet with a retail value of 400 to 600 pounds, in your pocket or hand, as many egocentric individuals choose to peruse, has a street value of 100 pounds minimum, meaning if i was a thief, i could steal 3 phones a week, and take home the national average weekly salary, here in the UK, whilst most mugs put in 40 to 60 hours per week.

What goes around, comes around, Apple. I am sorry it's the consumers that are about to suffer, but this should teach Apple a lesson. They keep on suing Samsung for rounded corners... Idiots... Like they have a patent on geometry... Motorola on the other hand is right. They have a valid patent for GPRS technology (a specific tehnology, not icons that llok alike, Apple) and Apple should have paid them for using this, like any other manufacturer does. Still, I think that Motorola will not block the Apple sales in Germany, because they have a normal, civilized management, not like the wunga-bunga thievery Management and Legal Dept. of Apple.

Someone put earlier about karma,,well your dead right,,crapple has bitten off more than it can chew..They demand this,they demand that and its not their right to do so..If every other company is suing crapple for trespassing on their copyrights then crapple are in the wrong..
You have to protect your patents you have no other choice by law..If you dont you can lose the patent altogether..So its the world against crapple,haha.
I have no sympathy for crapple whatsoever they are causing the trouble.

If Apple has their way and Android is no more, i would simply go and buy something else. I have a life Lambo, and it does not revolve around my handset. If this post is hurting you that much, then something has got to be wrong in your life. The iphone is not the be all and end all, neither is Android or Symbian, or anything else. You still have a choice, same as the rest of us. Let's say Apple went to the wall for instance, would your life be over? NO! You will go and buy something else, the same as i would. At the end of the day . . . It's only a phone . . ok?

apple is really stupid... someone has to wake them up..
motorola was in the mobility/phone technology for decades, they have tons of patents in this industry and they collect tons of royalties from other phone makers. That's the reason why google bought over them... that stupid half bite apple just started in this industry and wanna show their big name.. what a joke!!!

finaly someone sues apple for something,they've been sueing samsung and other companies for patents they did not own,or had...i think if apple would have stayed in their own bench everybody would be happy,but apple provoked everybody with their ideas of owning an ideea which was used long before they "invented" it...

i work with ALL sorts of phones. from android to IOS to symbian, and all kinds of manufacturer, i find this kind of lawsuit utterly detrimental to the customers. apple are in the wrong with their rectangles and motorola is in the wrong with their GPRS. it should be all about the customer but no, these big shots think its all about their bottom line. and a "large number" (wow i said something wrong, again, get a life) of you baying for blood at the detriment of CUSTOMERS will NOT help anything.
it makes sod all difference to you
so again, get a life.
