The end of that horrible notch is a great development. Thank you Samsung and everyone else responsible. I also hate those bulging camera lenses on the iPhones and One Plus series. IMO that's a seriously bad design.
Though, the Single Largest and Best Feature of 2019 smartphones will be the development of next generation imaging sensors and ISPs, and smartphone cameras that will finally help us get rid of point and shoot cameras. And by 2022 we could see smartphones replacing entry level 12-16MP ILCs from a few years back. Maybe with sensors doing 14-bit RAW and super HDR along with usable low light between 3200-6400 and higher.

How about real security, privacy (real privacy) and battery that holds a week. It is so easy to please the customers, yet, nobody does it.

Better battery life, the other items are not even close. Camera improvements would be next, but not really close to my need for longer lasting battery.

5G is nothing if Apple wont announce 5G phones. Believe me it will only available worldwide if Apple will release 5G phones.

The biggest point people look at is price. Higher price will definitely a NO to most people. Like iphone, more and more people switch to android due to unreasonable price vs specs. Those who don't basically are stuck with old idea that android system always hang or crash. Iphone often hang lately. Those who own iphone but not the other apple products are missing some of the advantage using iphone. Moreover latest ios update shall downgrade your iphone feature. Now that most of the iphone features are also available in android phone. Samsung will be next if they still not improving features vs price ratio. Honor, Realme and Xiaomi shall be the brand leader in future if others still hesitate to revise their price over spec ratio...

Computational photography and foldable phones if done right
Things like Night mode and Night sight are game changers you can take great quality pictures handheld which usually needs tripod and if foldable phones become a reality without much thickness and weight it will change how we use phones just think about it a large tablet which folds into a pocketable phone and a rollable keyboard like one LG made you can do most of document and stuff without carrying a bulky laptop or tablet as far as 5G goes its in beta stage currently so no not the most exciting feature of 2019 if only phones with 5G were not carrier specific it would be much better

You missed a very important feature. It is ToF. It will accelerate the Augmented reality and gaming. Smartphone gaming will reach new level with Xbox Kinect like gaming possible which Honor View20 demonstrated in CES 2019. In Augmented reality space new use cases will emerge with ToF technology. ToF with Sony IMX586 or Samsung Bright GM1 will be the generic combination we will be seeing towards second half of 2019 and big improvements in smartphone photography.
And the best thing is it is very cheap. AMS ToF sensors cost just $2.7 So it is possible sub $200 phones to have ToF in all phones which will be launched in Q3 or Q4 2019 and also the copycat company Apple.
