To my opinion rather notch than a punch ior waterdrop hole.
And flat screen than a notch.
So no notch would be best possible experience.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2019You adjusted to its crap factor :)Since the alternative is even worse (bezels), that is good.
I mean xperia ultra (last 6.5 inch phone) needed a suitcase to move. Those days even relatively normal sized phones are 6.4 inches thanks to bezel shaving...

Sliders are not a good idea for silicone/rubber cases.
Can't we have full display estate without someone shooting BB gun at the display or taking a bite? 16:9 preferred.

Front cameras can be accommodated in few days like slider, pop-up camera or like Note 9 - without notch or cut outs or punch holes. This is very much a required feature now a days...

Both are not future solution or revolution. Both are just a cosmetic solution, yes, it makes phones beautiful. For me, taller display with the same size of phone is enough. I am rather waiting for 5G and battery technology.

I understand why iphone went with the notch instead of a full screen.. Even on my note 8..there is too much tech to be compensated by a teardrop notch or a punched out screen... So what has happened to all those ambient sensors Ir camera proximity sensor etc?? They just stopped adding them? Or is the camera doing all that work?

[deleted post]*less screen.
Just look at water drop notches.
Those (basically) dead pixels on the phones' left is ridiculous. Of course fanboys support it.
Basically the truth is anything the fanboys hate.

formerly am anti-screen cutout of any kind, but after two days of using the pocophone f1 as emergency replacement for my razer phone (of which its 16:9 notchless screen i have greatly praised) i surprisingly don't mind the notch anymore. even when watching movies with wide resolution that stretches up to the notch, it started to just become natural after a few minutes into the movie.

I personally don't like big notches. Small notches are okay - especially when one can hide them away. The P20 Pro looks great with the top black bar hiding the notch.
As for the punch hole, I wish they stay as small as possible like in the View 20 and the upcoming regular S10 - and if they can be hidden away, even better.
But the hole in A8s is big and the one in the S10+ is TOO BIG. I don't like them, because they are misplaced and they will stand in the way of full screen videos and games. I wouldn't like the punch holes to stay where game controls are supposed to be.
Just my two cents.

For me, its all about the apps. And usability in landscape and portrait mode.
Ever since tall display came out.. most apps locks in port mode.. Else they have to deal with distorted landscape mode.
Now with notches and punch holes.. full screen apps experience get worse.
Some apps' may not have the resources or deve to fix all these issues.
So for me i want that regular rectangle display.
