Today China said they had the slowest growth in a decade. So consumers will be looking for more budget friendly phones. Samsung & LG are pretty much guaranteed to fail in China due to their budget offerings, i.e. low specs high prices. LG is too stupid with its pricing strategy.

Korean Phone Companies? U mean Samsung?
LG already has their worst so they're written off. When it comes to Korea, it'll always be Samsung and no one else.

My Samsung mobile is quick drain battery after OTA update. It is intentionally done in mobiles to force customers to buy new. Disappointed.

Shui8, 21 Jan 2019There are various reports already, its just u not aware of it.Show me. Aside from Samsung and LG which companies has revealed their full exports report from 2018? Link me up. I doubt you could find any. The report should be written in 2019. Usually, site like counterpoint research reveal those numbers in late Jan or early February. Where have you been reading these so called various reports? I wonder.

If all you care about is how cheap a phone is, go ahead, buy one of those chinese brands. I know I never will. Bleah!
If Samsung and Sony dissappear from the Android market I'll go buy an iPhone :)) And I really hate crapple.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2019Ermm J7 prime has been upgraded to Oreo, if you didn't know... moreDidn't know that, thanks. It is so unusual for Samsung phones to have more than one OS update, that I asumed that is the case leaning only on spec sheets provided by GSMArena.
Anyway... somehow I have a feeling you are satisfacted with offerings from Samsungs low/mid-end devices. If that's the case, what are your reasons for choosing it? Do you think there are no other alternatives, a brand loyalty or something else? I was just wondering, because I can justify their pricing only for high-end phones. But that's me.

AnnaXX, 21 Jan 2019LG is worst in giving updates even for their high end mobil... moreFor your kind info Mi A1 is Android One so it get Android P. Just ask from Redmi user how much upgrade they received.
J7 Prime was launched with Android 6.0 and upgrable to Android 8.0 which is not common in mid range devices.
So before commenting on anything think twice. Korean smartphone are always better than Chinese smartphone if you use smartly.

[deleted post]Profit margins for the smartphones will become less and lesser every year. That is the reason why SAMSUNG not to put in more effort to make.
They will move to those fields with higher profit margins like semiconductors and imaging sensors.

Easy solution: Samsung and LG should work harder to make better and cheaper phones...and launch improved phones every month, not every year. If the chineses can do it they could do it also...evolve or die.

Samsung started M series for youngster in India without much R&D.
Nowadays youngster plays PUBG. Will your poor RAM mobiles manage to it play? NO WAY!! Epic Fail !

Samsung phones are great but are overpriced. Then low-end devices until recently didn't have enough memory (both RAM and storage). They also lack features such as notification lights and always-on-display. Samsung is also slow to migrate to Type C USB port yet other small players are having them. I don't know what Samsung is waiting for.
