No wonder they fail ...
I really wanted to buy LGV40, but since its announce in October 2018 it's not yet possible to buy in Slovenia, neither in Europe from my fast researches (had no time to verify that in detail).. And even if now comes, it will be definitely overpriced.
Samsung on other hand.. it barely updated s9 from s8, what they were expecting ? That people will buy it just cause it's more expensive ? (If 2 things looks the same, people will buy the cheaper one)
With recent leaks of S10.. with that nut hole.. it will be a different design, indeed, but well, not much impressed me, and if i think so, then there are people who thinks the same.
So here a little, there a little, and we are the people who are going from these 2 companies away.

LG's main problem is that poor software experience.
No matter how good the hardware is, if the software is not optimized and never updated it leads to a poor experience.

Samsung does great phones in the high end market. But their prices got insane.
They need to start making sense in the mid range market. People eyeing for these phones don't care that much about the brand. They want value for money and chineze companies are doing a much better job at that.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2019To be fair, J7 Prime was released one year after Mi A1, so ... moreJ7 Prime came almost a year before Mi A1 yeah, but it came with Android 6 and it's officialy upgradable up to 7, while Mi A1 came with Android 7, but it's upgradable to lattest Android 9. That is a big difference, but it's not only Samsungs fault. Growth of software updates starts to increase on mid-end devices only after 2017. and program called Android One.

I always said "price is prime factor in India". Samsung couldn't understand well.
New M Series is useless when there is market king "Redmi Note 7 / 7 Pro" discovered. (yes, really discovered for high specs in low price). Huawei is not so behind in every aspects too.

P.S. - Iphone sales going down & Samsung S10 is going to be last popular device. In future chinese brand rule over world.

The global market is saturated, but the main reason of decline for the big players is the rise of Chinese brands taking over their market and India.

Hope lg will leave this market at all. If they can't do anything good - why they didn't dismissed unprofitable mobile division? They can't support, they can't release good quality phones. Even oled displays are totally bad (remember how they fucked up with huawei mate 20 pro?) LG selling TVs and feeding this trash can named LG mobile with lot of money that TVs bringing. Why?

AnnaXX, 21 Jan 2019LG is worst in giving updates even for their high end mobil... moreTo be fair, J7 Prime was released one year after Mi A1, so no surprise that the OS of J7 Prime is one cycle behind.

Actually the majority of this decline is attributed to LG. It's like it has stopped innovating enough, at almost every level of price. LG needs a major re-think. And it needs to Target every aspect of the smartphone, from the LCD/ OLED display, to the sensor design of the camera, to everything. And they need to think atlest 5 years ahead.

Samsung needs to beach it's mid range into separate division and target all the Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Honor. They are doing well in the top end, and they need to concentrate on the mid range priced ones to take on the Chinese companies.

LG is worst in giving updates even for their high end mobiles and Samsung phones are so overpriced, other hand companies like Xiaomi provides great value of money for both hardware and software by providing good processor, ram and timely updates and security patches.
I have used Mi A1 and J7 prime, both come in same price range and I can say MiA1 is far better than J7 prime in overall experience, A1 already got Android Pie and J7 running on Oreo and not gonna get next upgrade at all. J7 prime is not impressive in daily use either, so much lag and bad camera. So people now realising these things and they are putting their money on right place.

Here after Xiaomi and Samsung is my midrange choice

I'm using Xiaomi I'm proud of it. If I buy apple iPhone 7 plus will be the choice because the X series doesn't deserve my money

A few years ago Samsung and LG was a very popular choice in low/med-end class of phones, but today they are not even close. Partially due to chinese brands like Xiaomi and Huawei, but honestly their offerings are worsening by every generation. Mid-end phones at LG are practically nonexistent. While Samsung seems potent with their new M class, I have a concern about their pricing. Mid-end class phones are probably the most important class, since it usually gives the best value for money and it's affordable to many people. Well.. I hope they won't give up. We need brands to compete for bigger and better choice.

Very good news ! Finally they will uderstand they must
offer more realistic prices ! Everything over $ 1000 is
just a robbery . And Samsung is the leader of this
                              greedy Korean team.
