CPU: Both Snapdragon and XNos fast enough. Innovation: Note is full of them, such as pulling S Pen out and being able to take notes before waking phone up.

Xiaomi were obviously in a hurry to release a product and that is why the poor quality control and other issues. Xiaomi is on the right path, but this prototype is mostly a dud, right now. And a bad one at that.
Samsung dealt with the scratches and other issues with the screen, by bending it Inwards. Suddenly it appears that the biggest advantage that Chinese OEMs have, is to bring smartphones faster to the market (remember Samsung announced the hole and everyone was dying to have a phone with it?). While it is a great strategy for mid and lower end phones, unfinished products and low quality control is unacceptable for high end Flagships.
Having said that, Samsung needs to work on 3 things to maintain their marketshare:
1. Have a quicker turn around time. The downfall of Nokia began when the fuddy duddies would take 5 years to things that should have been done in a year or less.samsung does superb innovation but it needs quicker turnaround. The idea of lower end models being used to test the waters is a superb strategy of Samsung. It should continue that.
2. Focus big time on Smartphone Imaging. They made a huge mistake by not buying Toshiba (Japanese companies resist being bought by non-Japanese). Samsung needs to poach design Engineers from Sony and create a roadmap for being no1 in the next 10 years. Smartphones could be the main target and then ILCs.
3. Too many things are wrong with Exynos and their SoC division right now. They need a Revamp. Like Immediately and also need to hire Japanese and Indians who have worked with Apple, Snapdragon and TSMC. Both Exynos and Snapdragon have issues with cache and Instructions. And both could easily beat Apple with the right tweaks.

Honestly looks 10 times better than the one Samsung demoed.
Phones have come a long way, and the future looks even brighter!

Why be surprised that initial version of stuff comes with a hefty price tag AND needs polishing? It does not make it a "gimmick" that it is not fully developed...

...And this shows how a device can be thinner folding backwards, as the curvature does not need to be as sharp.
Of course this on the other hand leaves the screen unprotected...

Dude, 23 Jan 2019Horrible plastic display, not glass! Horrible feeling tbh.Foldable glass is tricky, but plastic comes in many sorts and can have a variety in coatings making it feel as smooth as glass.

Still the Samsung way is the best one. The bigger screen is protected and out of the way when not used and you still maintain the smaller screen for normal usage, for example calling/texting and you are pretty much holding it as you would normally. I just dont like the idea of holding weirdly folded phone with screen going all the way around

This is really good looking and potentially of great usage. Xiaomi will have just to turn off the part of the display in the back for battery purposes. This they can price easily 1K, considering Mi Mix and Mi8 go for nearly 500...
