i think samsung is feeling the pressure here in p.i. (not referring to the cuss the president is frequently quoted for) too. the market is flooded with devices by chinese oems like vivo and oppo that even local brands are being pushed away into extinction (o+, anyone?). very much like what's happening with the population in business districts- it used to be teeming with koreans but now they are being replaced by chinese.

Sony is next. Xiaomi is gaining customers in the Philippines because of their affordable and yet feature pack devices even they don't have ads on TV. Their popularity is based of the talk of mouth from xiaomi die hard users.

I can understand why sony is in the comments. I'm a sony fan and still using my z5 compact but I will not be surprised if they will follow LG. If you visit megamall you'll notifce that they have very few phones displayed. I have not seen the xz2. Xiaomi store have lots of people coming in.
As for LG, bootloop issue without a fix cost them customer trust.

Not surprising. LG's phones are behind VIVO and OPPO, which are spamming the country with plenty of stores and aggressive sales people.

They have some issues to their phones that needed to be address. I have purchase a V10 and after one and a half year before the warranty expires, my unit heating problems worsen that affect the phone performance until it never function. Support is poor and not accessible. By then, i never plan to have some LG phone again due to my disappointment.

Good riddance. It's not like they update their phones anyway. I know many Filipinos and not that despise LG when it comes to after-sale customer service, security updates, and overall software support.
My next android device will be from HMD's NOKIA, since they seem to prioritize updates.
Never again, LG.

Is LG pulling away from other markets too?
Like Sony did?
Because also in Israel LG's latest device is the G7, and the V40 was never available.
This is in spite of the fact that LG used to be a strong contender in the Israeli market a few years ago.
They can't compete with Xiaomi in this market.
The Philippines is a big market - so it's more probably that LG would pull out of other markets too.
Also Sony seems to had pulled out of the Israeli market - it's latest device currently sold there is the XZ2.

if they handled their bootloop fiasco a lot better than they did then then they wouldn't be losing business now. LG made great phones, but they lost everyone's trust after what they did with customers affected by their rather poor quality control.
heck, even now their QC is bad, just look at the panels they sold to huawei.

As global competition gets tougher, brands with premium pricing but without premium quality and after-sale support, will get crushed one by one.
