s-pen pusher, 31 Jan 2019actually, the 16:9 on screens as big as 5.5 inches is not p... moreDont explain it to me, Im not digging the 21:9 nonsens, but then again I said the same for 18:9....both are too tall for easy use, so no matter which one, you have to use one handed mode, and both hands without it to reach all UI elements. But hey, at least on 21 you got full screen usage for movies, and Sonys adapt for full screen usage while gaming.
Give me a 16:9 5,2 incher any time, as I prefer it for ease of use over those other screen aspects and sizes.

Still have my Xperia A4 from docomo as backup driver
And it fits me perfectly
Nowadays phones become bigger and bigger, I'm missing the compact size with the current hardware specs

Shanti Dope, 31 Jan 2019You know, like the S10 is an upgraded S9, which in itself i... morewell most sonyfans here always say "I will buy xperia".
But in reality, when sony finally releases its new phones, nono of those fans buy it.
They always find excuses like "oh too expensive, oh dont have money right now, i will wait until next year, etc etc etc"

so this isn't tall at all?
https://www.gsmarena.com/the_sony_xperia_xz4_will_have_a_219_display_and_heres_what_watching_native_aspect_movies_on_it_looks-news-34950.php
i get it that this would be good for people who enjoy watching movies on their phone; but then that's just about it. sony should have learned their lessons on the xz premium- 4k hdr screen never really caught on, has it? i am not bashing sony for this; i was just hoping so hard they could come up with something that's more innovative or more disrupting that this because i really want to see them back in the game.

s-pen pusher, 31 Jan 2019actually, the 16:9 on screens as big as 5.5 inches is not p... moreWell actually its not 30% taller, just because 21 is 3 better than 18. It doesn't work like that...
If we use maths the angle of the corner is the aspect ration defined by 21:9 or 18:9.
So we get an angle of arctan(21/9).
Now if we want the height of the screen, we use sin(arctan(21/9))*6.5 inches.
Comparing it with 18:9
(sin(arctan(21/9))*6.5)/(sin(arctan(18/9))*6.5) = approx 1.03
Meaning the screen is only 3% taller. and 6% taller than a 16:9
So stop complaining its too tall, chocolate remote controller. It's narrower and easier to hold in 1 hand. And if youre going to complain its top heavy, its bloody less than 200grams.

Tann Hauser, 31 Jan 2019You talking about the trendy unpractical design that starte... moreactually, the 16:9 on screens as big as 5.5 inches is not practical because in portrait orientation the width is quite big; that was the reason they have included shrinking screens for one-handed use. the 18:9/19:9 made the navigation okay at least width-wise, but being that the screen sizes have increased even further it made it difficult to reach for ui elements that are on the top portion. then of course this is nothing that cannot be fixed by the shrinking of screen for one-handed use, likewise the bezels have become thinner as well. now, jumping to 21:9 is not small of a difference- there is an increase in height of at least 30% compared to current aspect ratios, that would really make navigation on the ui difficult. aside from that, alot of games and apps have not even adapted the 18:9 yet, so good luck on 21:9.

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2019last phone from Sony that I've been use is xz1 and currentl... moreYou can't compare to the XZ1..especially with things like PUBG. That phone was made at least a year before PubG came out so its not like it was meant to play that.
Then you have new ram & processor on the XZ4 that is miles ahead of the XZ1.
Your phone is ancient in the mobile world & you cannot bring what you dont like about it to the XZ4....they are completely different in every way

This device will be perfect except for the 21.9 aspect ratio. Men talk about elongated... I'm already not a fan of 18:9AR screens as it is. The battery capacity is a huge plus, hopefully the camera will as well. I'm not sure if what I see from the pictures is pronounced bezels.

last phone from Sony that I've been use is xz1 and currently use it as second phone, i think its a good device for gaming cuz the bezel prevent from unwanted touch, but it has several problem, when playing pubg or other heavy game the screen will make a lining at the top but just for a sec and will disappear itself, battery just okay for 2700 MaH can last a day. if they make a compact this year i will surely buy their phone cuz from render that leaked it have 3.5 mm jack, not so small screen and bigger battery plus side mounted fp.

Now to wait impatiently to see if they will make an under 5" compact model or if they have abandoned that along with everyone else.
