the SGS1 and the nexus is almost identical so the SGS has the hardware to run ICS

Galaxy Nexus is Google's phone. Galaxy S and Galaxy SII aren't. Samsung has to update them, not Google.

I've just updated my i9023 Nexus S a few hours ago. It is a lot faster, there are more dev options to tweak how your phone works. As a result, I have more free ROM space, more free RAM, and everything just feels so much faster compared to 2.3.6!

AnonD-9845, 18 Dec 2011why do u guys need face unlock *frowns* it has been shown ... morethe only secure lock screen is fingerprint or password not face unlock or pattern unlock. its just e feel good factor currently but I am sure they will improve it. I know many people use pattern which is also easy to break. I am sure no one uses v complicated pattern. so its a give n take.

those asking about the galaxy s, most of the hardware is the same as the nexus s, so an update to the stock ICS wouldn't be unlikely to crop up online by some developers soon, however there will most likely be no official updates for any mobile running android over 18months old as google have restricted updates to newer devices.

what is the hardware requirements for ice cream sandwich. can ice cream sandwich be made available for affordable phones of around 200 dollars. or we have to be contented with 2.3 only ?????

Received ICS MR1 4.0.3 upgrade yesterday. The Greenness of Gingerbread has been replaced by cool Blue GUI. panorama has been added but Face unlock is missing.Gtalk , Gmail , market all have been revamped and Gtalk now supports multiple account without much hassle which is a relief :).The Keyboard , copy Paste features have been enhanced and developer options are present in system settings which let you tweak with ICS experience.
And finally a screen shot feature has been added.Simply hold down the Volume Down button and Power button for about a second and you have it .
Only problem that I faced so far is my favorite Mobo Player Pro stopped working , hope the developers fix the problem very soon.
